Yeah, well, there are probably many that do this. For example, there is a German UKpostsr who recently beat the game without mining blocks, attacking using left click, he couldn't access any chests, he couldn't trade, besides the hotbar and the off hand the inventory was locked and he couldn't drop any items. Additionally, he couldn't open the inventory normally.

Thanks! Yeah hearing the hissing sound of the creeper made me instantly grab my mouse out of habit, but since I died instantly afterwards anyway I decided it wasn't that big of an issue since it didn't have any repercussions in the run

Yeah I was also surprised to find out that gravel wasn't that useful, I still had to use it a few times but not as much as I expected. I also thought TNT would be usefull to dig down, but considering the absurd amount of TNT it would require to reach the stronghold from the surface, I quickly gave up on that idea.
