Over the past few years more and more Americans have started choosing to leave the United States and permanently relocate to other countries. And the trend doesn't seem to be slowing. In fact, the number of Americans living full time in other countries seems to be increasing with each passing year. So has leaving America become the new American Dream? And if so, what does that mean for those of us who stay behind? #americandream #retireoverseas #passportbros

@BillyTimes-dw7vs I'm living in my car so that I can build my house in Mexico, I've spent about 50k building a two story 5 bedroom house. Last year I spent 30k renting an apartment in Encinitas CA for a year. That was so stupid of me, I could of started another house with that. Lesson learned though I'm never doing that again.

I moved to Germany for 5 years, and returning to America has been my biggest regret in life. It's a shithole compared to Germany, which has far better work-life balance, safer, cleaner, food is healthier, healthcare is superior and freely available. No homeless camps, no ghettos. The populace is much more informed and engaged. Already planning to go back and never return.

Where in Germany, may I ask? My German friend of 30+ years tells me frequently how Germany now is very different from the Germany I knew in the 80's. She talks about the big homeless problem they now have, increased crime, gas prices, rampant immigration, & how they don't dare drive through town with the doors unlocked anymore just to name a few things. Your description sounds more like how it was when I left in the 80's.

I think one of the biggest factors that could help is to get off social media and be very picky with the news you consume. Right now it’s in vogue to trash America and plenty of young people are along for the ride. It might help if we stop listening to people complaining about racism, gender, oppression…etc. us Americans have it so good, truly. While I grew up in lower class, I still had access to running clean water, supermarkets full of food, relative safety. Compare that to actual oppression like the Uyghurs in China or the gangs that control South Africa’s energy…that is a real issue. This isn’t to say America doesn’t have her problems, she definitely does. But we can work to make it better. Plus if many have the same thoughts as you the coveted countries will become overwhelmed by immigration, it won’t represent what they are now.

I truly feel like they are setting it up to where one day when they really put the hammer down on people it won't matter if the policemen have a camera on or not people are going to be so full of hate and disgust that ppl could actually see the cops beating down a woman like you or me and say "hey she probably deservs it" America's going towards a Fascist communist government with a socialist style market system ... I told my husband yesterday that I foresee the day where for instance if one couple owns a three-bedroom home that the government can tell them they don't need all that room and make them leave for something that the government feels is more accommodating to a two-person family... I hope all that made some kind of sense.. Best wishes Onyx

Love ya Tim. Your talks always calm me down. My wife and I are of retirement age. We are fortunate to live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is peaceful and beautiful here. Winters are hard, and income is low, but people still act like neighbors here. We own a little house that we bought 20 years ago, so we’ll be ok. It’s a great place to make a difference and share any extra that we have. It’s easy to effect positive change in rural America. If we shift toward love over fear , we become useful and helpful.

Tim is right on. I live in Bangkok. Moved here so I wouldn't have to work like a dog, and can have a decent standard of living. I'm in a luxury building on lovely grounds, delicious food everywhere, beautiful women all around me and can live stress free within my means. So why is this seemingly idyllic lifestyle unsustainable for me ? Because i VERY MUCH miss my own culture, in a land where people speak my language and get my sense of humor, and am not looked upon as a foreigner (that really gets old after a while). I'm just gonna be honest here - expats I know that have relationships with Thai (beautiful & young) are ultimately unhappy. I would love to walk into a cafe, sit down, and have a nice conversation with the locals also having their morning coffee. People don't speak to each other here. Now I'm not saying this goes for all of Thailand, or even for other expats living here. I'm just one person saying that I have found all the answers and conveniences by leaving the country - except it doesn't really work.... for me. Just keep this in mind if you're surfing all those "Why I moved to Thailand" videos. Peace.

My pension’s not very large but I have no significant debt. But in any of those countries (and a few others), I’m effectively a 1%er the instant I step off a plane. Mix in the growing political instability and the healthcare system and blowing this pop stand looks better by the day…

Man, thanks for saying this, Timothy. I'm European and I live in the 'happiest' country (Finland) in the world, and people here complain about the same exact issues that you listed during this livestream. Most of these issues aren't specific to the USA; rather, they're issues that most countries are currently facing. I used to be one of those people who wanted to move away from my home country because we're facing similar issues that your country is currently facing. I currently speak three languages and am learning a fourth. I have a university degree, I'm young, and I'm a skilled worker, and so on. But the point is, I have everything you need to succeed in another country, but I decided to stay for now. Why? Well, my long-term girlfriend, soon-to-be fiancée, is from Eastern Europe, and she grew up (mind my language) in a true shithole. Yet, she is the sweetest and hardest-working person I've met during my life. She has all the reasons to be bitter and angry because she truly got dealt a bad hand at life, and yet, she doesn't have a single bitter bone in her body, and she loves this country. This country gave her all the opportunities she would've never had growing up in her home country. And here I am, thinking about leaving this country because I've taken everything for granted, complaining about dumb shit, getting depressed for no reason. Like, come on, man. So, what I'm saying is that some of you people (me included) just need a good ol' cup of true suffering to appreciate everything you got. Most Western people have never experienced true hardship in their lives. Real suffering builds character and puts everything in perspective. I still want to leave my country someday since I have a dream that I want to live in the USA or Japan someday. But for now, I'll be staying and bitching less.

A country divided, repealing laws, raking up laws from the 1800s, pretending that a large chunk of the country’ history is to be forgotten and not taught; outrageous ideas of making homelessness a crime; taxing retirement to the max and trying to dumb down the country by pushing trade schools instead of higher learning.

One thing that people don't talk about is citizenship in other countries. I watch another YT content creator who is on a work visa in Prague, Czech Republic. To become a citizen, The Czech Republic requires you to be proficient in the Czech language to a certain degree. There is a language test as part of becoming a legal citizen in that country. He has tried taking Czech classes and says it's an extremely hard language to learn. He's at the age where he can stay on his work visa for awhile, but he's not sure what he wants to do after that. Oh yes. Many people have left and/or planning on leaving for so many reasons I lived in Italy and Greece. First, you have to be able and willing to make a culture change and mindset for change. Although many Americans would like to leave, they don't have the ability to make the change from a mindset. Many American men are leaving to find a lady overseas who are more traditional. Let's face it, dating and marrying in the US is just not an option for these days. Cost of living is another big issue. Retired men over 50 with low income can live much better overseas. I am looking at returning to Southern Italy or Thailand or the Philippians.
