Honestly, I think that Elle was kinda a bad girlfriend.... Noah puts in all this effort and she ruins her relationship with Noah. He doesn't deserve that, he's doing all these sweat gestures for her and she doesn't appreciate them.

He never cheated on her. He never complained for her relationship with lee, though there were times where that hampered their relationship . They play together and they laugh together with bowling and dancing. He also did the iconic “Say Anything” with a radio scene. It’s so cute. Noah. Hands down Noah. He may not be the smartest or best at showing his emotions. However he was the one that broke up with Elle because it was what was best for HER and him. He didn't want to be one of the people who made her put herself last. They were a year apart in age and friends first so they had that history first. Then they dated. They realized that they were fighting too much and more than likely wouldn't make it through college. It's not the norm to end up with the guy you dated in high school. So I think if anything Elle and Noah's break up and six years apart give them a stronger chance of making it in the end. Noah also puts a lot more thought into his relationship with Elle in the right now and the future. Peter is more in the here and now.
