Exactly! How are we supposed to make a sound buying decision without more details. You know, like: How many grains of abrasive are adhered to the belt? What color are the electrons from the VFD? How many sparks per millisecond? What flavor is the white paint? Are all the protons positively charged? Does it go well with General Tso's for lunch? How fast does it fall if you drop it from an airplane? Does it feature variable reluctance? Why is the Turbo Encabulator not even mentioned?

Tay just a heads up on the small wheel attachment don't run it over 40-50% power or you'll burn the bearings out. They are designed to handle that much rpm.
@jmonsted
@jmonsted 8 місяців тому
All of the things that are likely to go wrong with this thing are easily replaced (bearings, motor, VFD), so that makes it a lot more sensible than the "you'll never find parts" stuff like the welder.

you can convert these to a 2x72 fairly easy by cutting off a couple inches of the bar that holds the platten. I came across a tutorial on UKposts if you want to look into it.

Got mine yesterday. Built a trolley cart with heavy cast concrete base and locking 6"castors, did the 2x72" mod, added a water mist, catch/quench bucket, LED work-light and simplified controls (fwd/stop/rev switch, 10-turn speed pot) and an air blast nozzle. This beast is awesome!❤😂 .....working on making a cerammic-glass platen now!😂😂😂 This is a great asset in my shop! BTW, it now ships in two wooden crates (platen, wheels and arm in the smaller box).

Just built a Ceramic Glass platen for it and also 3D printed a block that keeps a bar magnet about .125" away from the belt as it comes round the lower pulley to trap metallic particulate. This beast works great!

I have a Pheer 2x72 grinder, its made in the USA (Oregon), came with a USA made wash down rated motor$$$, fairly cheap, its pretty rad. It only cost a couple hundred more than the Vevor. But to the point of my post. It comes with a warning about running the small wheel attachment at high speeds. Apparently the smaller bearings are not rated for them, and will wear out quicker.

@darenscott1718
@darenscott1718 8 місяців тому
@@jacobdillon3635 I bought it specifically for knife making and it works well for that purpose. Now if I could only make a decent knife. That's a me problem not a grinder problem. But I found that I use it for every single metal fab project that I do. It's so easy to bring a small piece to the tool rather than and angle grinder to the piece. I think the Pheer grinder is well made, it's easy to modify the tooling to meet my needs. My only complaint is that at really low speeds I can stall the motor, but thats an issue of the KBC variable frequency drive. He sells another VFD as an up grade that should fix the problem. Not that it is a big problem for me, I can always increase the speed until it doesn't stall or go at it a bit softer taking less material. I've owned mine for 5 years and it has never so much as hiccuped. I have no regrets with the purchase.
@802Garage
@802Garage 7 місяців тому
Wow those Pheer look like REALLY nice machines! Their cheapest ready to go model looks to start at about $1250, so definitely worth considering vs the Vevor. I say that as someone who is working with Vevor too. The next model up is $1550, which is 50% more money, but wow they are pretty machines. All CNC steel look like something NASA would use.

Hi from New Zealand.. really enjoy your videos…only serious when you need to be! You version of “group therapy at the funny farm”! An electrician who knows what he / she is doing would be able connect up a E-stop plus a nice big and more accessible knob to adjust the speed… that having to bend down to find the speed knob is a bit dangerous… gets your head / hair just a little closer to the belt. I still find it odd that 3 phase power is a bit of an oddity / novelty in US workshops… here it is just normal… With that sander it seems a hell of a waste of several hundred dollars of electrical kit to in essence to give you speed control !! Keep up the good work !

The trajectory of the belt from the motor pulley to the tension pulley is angled perfectly to fling stuff at eye level. This happened when the small pry bar was first touched at about 8:20 into the video. Perhaps adding a small safety cover over the tension pulley to catch just that angle would help. Its hard to say what will exactly cause some particles to get caught on the belt long enough to come around and be flung, but it just seems like a real danger. Someone is sure to use the grinder without safety glasses at some point. Stay safe.

House Work is another youtuber who sells kits and plans for 2x72 grinders, USA made. Mine is 3 hp 3 phase and runs up to 8,000+ surface feet per minute. Even though I built a cnc plasma table, I opted for the laser cut kit. It works horizontal or vertical. My vfd is a quality unit from an automation company and I mounted it remotely and built a cover for the remote display and wired in common switches and control knob that are bigger and tough to be used with welding glove. If they wear out or become damaged, they are easy and cheap to replace. The display is calibrated to read surface feet per minute. Helicopter John is a man who designed and built an all aluminum 2x72 grinder which has a rotary platen with different wheel sizes, flat platen, slack belt area, and small wheel holder. He shared his cad files with me and I built my own modified version out of steel for the House Work grinder. These grinders are great for cleaning up plasma cut parts. They do not replace an angle grinder or right angle die grinder for some of the detailed work, especially on corners, but together, they allow you to quickly finish parts.

Just FYI you can get into an American made product with a better VFD but only a flat platen and no large wheel in this price range from Origin blade maker. Not affiliated with them in any way, just a satisfied customer for about 10 years. Not dissing on the Vevor unit but I would tend to trust the VFD sold with the Origin more. Plus if I remember correctly it can be wired for 220 or 110 without the need for the transformer and is a sealed unit so no worry of dust or water ingress.

Hello, just started watching your channel today. Watched the shop build, benchs,stadium, seat,bar ,container, etc. and that was binging today. Im sure someone has told you by now but a small and large speed squares are real handy as a guide for the plasma and a aluminum yardstick. Then grab two of the stops with the brass thumb screws for a framing square and pu on the yardstick, it lays flat and can follow contour of tanks or large pipe and raises them enough to guide plasma torch. Im a steamfitter not a carpenter so im sorry I dont know the correct name of those stops but have used to cut steel and their intended use on a framing square to mark out the stringers for stairs and roof joists, the angle at ridge beam and birdsmouth at walls. love your videos and the tools you got, cant wait to watch you fire them up. good luck, Jim

From what I have heard Vevor stuff is actually quite good in general, only thing that they kind of skimp on are things like bearings. They use regular deep groove ball bearings on everything, even when there are axial loads like in their routers, mills and lathes etc. In a case like this that really doesnt matter as there are hardly any.

Most if not all brushless power tools are 3 phase as well.
@solarguy6043
@solarguy6043 8 місяців тому
3 phase electric motors in the 1-3 hp category can be 85-low 90's % efficiency. Single phase in the same size can be 70 to very close to 90% efficient. Technically correct, three phase wins. Having said that, every time you convert electricity (or any other kind of energy) to another form/voltage/phase/frequency.......you lose efficiency. So if you run your particular machine in such a way that the electricity has to go from 120 to 220 single phase, and then from 220 single phase to 220 3 phase, it is a virtual certainty that a name brand (decent quality) 220V single phase motor, plugged straight into a 220 single phase socket on the wall, will beat your machine for efficiency. If you're talking about anything bigger than 10 or 15 hp, 3 phase pretty much always wins because you can get it in the higher voltages commonly seen at commercial/industrial places. You would be hard pressed to even find a 10 hp single phase motor. But then the big factor is the higher voltage, not just the fact that it's 3 phase. To make more meaningful claims, you really have to talk about two very specific motors.

@@LiftArcStudios Yes I know, I'm dad, daddy, or Pawpaw to seven kids. 3 daughters, 3 sons, and 1 granddaughter. So have I had my nails painted? Yes, but only at the house. It doesn't take much to get it off. A shop towel and a bit of break cleaner and your done. Is there a problem with it? Well tbph, it depends upon the context. Considering that we have children these days "identifying" as everything from a cat to a ham sandwich. Yes, I'd call that a problem. Letting our daughters (although two of mine are out on their own and one is kinda sorta on her own (collage) paint nails is one thing. Drag striper story hour at our local elementary school is something TOTALLY different. So what's that have to do with you? Just because you aren't at the local school. That doesn't mean y'all aren't role models to someone who watches. No matter if you want to be or not. Because you are YT influencers. I'd bet my farm that all of you have young ones that idolize you. I know I know, you're probably laughing right now. Well, don't sell yourself short!! So yes, how you conduct yourselves, from how you talk to having fingernail polish on is important. So is there something "wrong" with it? It all depends upon the context. A man being daddy, of course not!! That aside, I guess it all depends on your personal feelings and convictions.
