Israeli settlers have killed two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian officials, after a weekend of escalating violence across the territory.
The father of one of those killed said a dispute began over cows that were grazing among some olive groves before violence broke out. 'The settlers had weapons and they shot randomly,' he said. Palestinians said the incident followed a clash when settlers entered Palestinian-owned land and assaulted residents, while settlers said it began with an assault on a Jewish person.
The UN and the UK have voiced grave concern over escalating violence in the West Bank, demanding that Israeli security forces 'immediately' stop supporting settler attacks on Palestinians in the occupied territory. Tensions in the West Bank have escalated sharply since the killing of a 14-year-old boy from a settler family at the weekend.
