3 years ago the only happiness I got from this team were Markelle offensive highlights and JI defensive highlights. Watching Franz, Paolo, and Wendell offensively have been added to that list, but Jalen's defense gives me the same feeling I used to get from watching JI. We really have a generational defensive talent on this team AGAIN.

The Heart of Suggs

I feel like there was one missed where Suggs stole the ball by basically using his athleticism and anticipation to always be just a perfect step ahead of the ball handler in the half court. Without fouling, the offensive player just couldn't move forward with the basketball anymore and the ball just kind of fell into Jalen's possession. I had never seen anything quite like it. Maybe I missed it on this highlight reel...but when I saw that I thought, wow, this kid's going to be okay in this league regardless of how his offensive role carves out. But oh, he improved steadily on offense too. Now it's his killer instinct on defense that is the only thing in his way. Can he bring that defensive intensity every night and stay healthy doing it? If he can, this guy is going to develop into a very solid starter. I, like everybody, was worried after his first season. Now? I'm excited to see what next season brings. Get in that gym, young fellah, and let's see that work show out next year! We believe.

we need a fully healthy Jalen Suggs for next season. We really need him to become a Marcus Smart type of player, a defensive pest with playmaking. Truly believe he can be an all nba defender if he stays healthy.
