Your choice of words in English is perfectly good, and grammar is perfectly correct. I think Japanese culture has been very popular around the world because of original and elegant beauty, and more so nowadays because it is a real living tradition and not just a reconstruction or a re-enactment. In Poland, where I was raised, I was always told that Japan is a culture to look up to. A more advanced civilisation, because of how much have you achieved in terms of science and technology, how advanced reliable is any machine you make and how modern and well looked after your cities are. I asked my English friends about it, and they said the same. Also, the worldwide popularity of the Katana and Samurai, and the living tradition of arts such as Iaido, Kendo and Kenjutsu is what I think has helped Europeans to rediscover their historical swordsmanship, since only sports fencing had been practiced for decades, but now with HEMA we are rediscovering our own heritage. It is especially true for my country, where because of difficult history, our own swordsmanship went extinct already back in XIXth century, and after the war our blacksmiths were not allowed to make swords anymore, so the tradition and art of making good sabres died. However later on, some of our people who now make best sabres, or practice Historical European swordsmanship, actually started from trying to make replicas of Katana or practicing Kendo, and that helped them to rediscover and return to their own national tradition, that is to making sabres and learning how to use them in traditional way. That is something with have to thank Japan for. I am concerned however, that Japanese people still work so much. You have already achieved prosperity and advancement. Many people think that many issues Japanese society has, comes from the fact that you work so much, you simply don't have time to get on with your lives as individuals. We would like Japanese culture to flourish for centuries to come, and we believe it would help it if Japanese people had more time to enjoy their lives outside from work.

I have had an curious fascination with Japan and Japanese culture since I was little. It is profound and hard to convey. It's just that as I grew up I felt that so much of what made me, ME, was mirrored and paralleled by what I saw heard and felt in Japanese culture. Like my heart and soul long to be reconnected to this long lost aspect of my self. So much so that when my sister passed away a decade ago I decided that since life is so temporary, and you never know when it is your last day, I needed to live, and to live FULLY, and NOW. The only thing I could think to do, was to make SURE I visit Japan. However life never works out the way you expect, and I never ended up going. I still long to visit someday. Undoubtedly, until the Edo period, Japan was not a Japanese culture, but a Japanese civilization. However, after the Meiji Era (1868-1912), while Japan accepted Western civilization and developed economically, Japanese civilization declined. When I read the memoirs of foreigners who came to Japan in those days, they seemed to be saddened by the soon-to-be disappearing Japanese civilization. After the Greater East Asia War, Japan was ordered to eliminate all nationalistic elements under the GHQ rule of the United States. After the GHQ rule ended, Japan developed with the dream of becoming the world's economic hegemon. U.S. military garrisons were left in the country. The novelist Yukio Mishima predicted the future of Japan at that time: "If things go on as they are, Japan will disappear, and in its place will remain an inorganic, empty, neutral, neutral-colored, wealthy, shrewd, economic power in a corner of the Far East. It is true that Japan returned to being one of the world's leading economic powers in the late 1980s. However, as a result of 30 years of drastic fiscal austerity since the 1990s, Japan has been stuck in a deflationary recession, income disparity has widened, society has become unstable, and suicides among women and children have increased. Now, we have lost even the economic superpower that Mishima predicted. Our GDP was overtaken by China a long time ago, and now our GDP per capita has been overtaken even by our neighboring country, South Korea. In Japan, compulsory music classes include piano, recorder, and brass band. However, there are no classes on the Koto or Shakuhachi, and many Japanese have never even touched them. At my high school, we happened to have an opportunity to listen to a shakuhachi performance in a concert hall. I still remember the inexplicable feeling of excitement I felt at that time. We, modern Japanese, have forgotten Japanese civilization, are not familiar with Japanese culture, and have been intentionally made to lose our "national identity. A long time ago, the word "international" was popular, but in recent decades it has been replaced by the word "globalism. Probably not many Japanese understand the meaning of this word correctly. What saddens me is that the Japanese themselves do not have a sense of crisis about this fact. If things continue as they are, Western textbooks will say, "Once upon a time, there existed a strange nation called Japan in the Far East. At that time, Japan will be swallowed up by "his country," which has become a major power in Asia, and the Japanese people may have completely disappeared and become a small group of unidentifiable people who have lost their memory.

Well, I'm not fond if nationalism, but Japan is living what all other cultures/civilizations are living : being cut from their roots, being "globalized", corrupted by the un-civilized USA, dominated and expoited by them. It is really a pity that foreigners are often more interested by traditional Japan than the Japanese themselves

I think Asians often mistake industrialization with "westernization". Every civilization that has entered the industrial era has done so at the price of forsaking their old ways and accepting some kind of international culture that draws bits and pieces from just about everywhere. European countries all had to "westernize" in the 19th century, some of them later than Japan. In my opinion, the whole edifice of western civilization is a lie made up by the Anglo-Americans to justify their greed, treachery, and domination of the world. Whatever is pointed to as western civilization almost invariably comes from Italy, Germany, or Greece. These three are all countries that England and America despise and wish to subjugate. During the human spirit-crushing tragedy of the 1940s did the Anglo-Americans not insist that Japan was aligned with Germany and Italy? Two major sources of western civilization that America claims to embody? Plus, most material culture that is often called western is just acultural. How is black and white business clothing western? Are cars western? How about stoplights and skyscrapers? I think Asia should stop torturing herself with comparisons to something that is actually imaginary. Just remember that the actual sources of western culture are not Japan's betrayers and rapists, that Asia has artistic achievements that are every bit as amazing as something like classical music (but most of them are literature and poetry), and that industrialization has nothing to do with "the West" and effects every civilization the same way, whether you are Germany, Iran, China, or Japan.

I majored in biomedical engineering as an undergraduate and minored in East Asian and Buddhist art history. I ended up going to graduate school for my masters in biomedical engineering and technology and I have a wonderful job currently working in the biomedical industry field. I always think back though from time to time and recall so many wonderful things that I learned from my asian art history classes. The culture and art was so beautiful and I absolutely loved the history behind it all. I honestly fell in love with it, it grew so much on me, and it seems to be so to this day. I often find myself researching early woodblock prints and hanging scrolls and learning new things about them and the artists that brought them to life. I almost considered switching majors back then. What would I be doing now? I would be throughout China and Japan, learning their art, language, and culture. I’ll make it there someday to see everything firsthand instead of just in textbooks. It’s crazy though that I loved my minor more than my actual major, and I did so much better with my minor than major.

Obviously not all military is welcomed- especially in Okinawa and some other smaller places, (because of the many awful fucking cases that the military is involved with, much of it being Marines related) but I’m glad that- being in the navy, I got to hear this music as I passed a tea shop, and I decided on a whim to step inside. The overall feel of this shop was homely, yet somber, like a home you hadn’t been to or seen in years, but as you sat and drank your tea/coffee/ whatever, and ate your sashimi- you felt a sense of comfort.

I love traditional Japanese music! I can listen to it for hours. And it allows me to focus when I work. Japanese music is very special but it is not sufficiently known and is under-appreciated. I can imagine it becoming the “hot” thing around the world some day - the world needs to zen down a bit. It has become too crazy.

He loved their culture and brought back many things to the United States. Porcelain and a very exquisite doll of the a Samuria in full court regalia. I was taught to respect the Japanese and their dicendance in my town of Santa Maria California. Nisai. I went to the Aloha market their many times own by them. My dad had travelled the world for some two years in his youth (in the 1980s) and a part of his journey was spent in Japan. He always told me how much he enjoyed his time there and it’s one of the few countries he wanted to visit again (though he never did). Most Japanese he met and spent some time with back then was because of his interest in the traditional music, he still has a few photos of when they had invited him to a tea ceremony and played some music afterwards, despite barely being able to talk to each other due to very limited English skills on both sides (we’re European). Music (and art in general) has this wonderful ability to connect people beyond language. I’m glad i got to grow up in a very musical family who taught me (mainly thanks to my dad’s experiences from visiting nations before mass tourism) to not only appreciate classical but also foreign traditional music from a very young age. Japanese arts and culture have always been among the ones i cherish the most.

If you do buy one of their cars, for the love of christ don't put one of those idiotic loud coffee can exhausts on it that make it sound like a broken leaf blower. That shit went out 2 decades ago and I still have to laugh at the dbag kid down the street who farts around the neighborhood in his 100hp shitbox with a wing and racing seats like he's trying revive the Fast n Furious era he missed out on. Those were dark times and they're behind us, let's leave them there. Save your money and get an EVO, a WRX, or a Skyline/GTR and then leave the exhaust alone, they sound good stock. No need to make $35k+ car sound like a $2k POS. Cool? Ok, good talk.
