My President was black, He did what he could. People still hated But he still stuck it through. He earned an extra term, Made Obamacare. I know he wasn't perfect, But he always seemed to care.

even as someone who isn't a black american, you can feel the magnitude of this song and what a figurehead like that represents in history. Salute the dude for doing what he could.

I will never be able to explain the amount of joy that overwhelmed me when he won. My cousin and I screamed to the top of our lungs "he won!"The next day at school, I felt like I could conquer anything. People don't get it, many black people don't have positive role models to look up to that tells them a black can succeed. When they look around all they see is hardship and failure, so when a Black man won the Presidency it provided a sense of hope. It has nothing to do with white vs black (at least it didn't at the time). My grandmother CRIED when I woke her up and told her. This is a lady who once attended segregated schools, now she's seeing a Black or Mixed race man as a President. Almost 8 years later, I have mixed views about Obama but nothing will ever take away from that moment in 2008.

The opposition was often unprincipled and reflexively harsh. Much respect to President Obama and others for working hard and staying consistently positive doing an often thankless job.👏 Historic election and presidency.
