I’m retired, and my monies are automatically deposited to my banks in America, and from there I can transfer money to my account in Italy. That is possible because one of the accounts is with PNC (Pennsylvania equivalent of Bank of America, Chase, et. al.). Unfortunately, I can’t answer your question about finding jobs in the EU. The only advice I can offer is: try the UK (downside is they’re no longer part of the EU). There are many countries both in the EU and non-EU where you can live comfortably. 2 countries off the top of my head are Portugal and Spain. In my case, my rent and utilities (for what we would call a studio) is €600/mo. That fluctuates depending on the exchange rate. For example, when I moved here in December 2022, my rent was ~$670.00/mo, now it’s ~$625.00. My friend had a 2 bedroom apartment, in the same area, that was (if I remember correctly) €700/mo including utilities. €600.00 is my only major expense. Because I’m a resident of the Venice region, I buy an unlimited monthly pass for €30.00/mo. This allows me to ride all the buses and local trains/trams as often as I want, and the vaporetto (water bus in Venice proper) is only €3.00 each way instead of the €10.00 each way. Another “perk” of being a resident is, that I can visit any country in the EU, and stay there longer than my passport would normally allow. I have no need for a car, because as I said: my food and such is within walking distance, I can take a bus just about anywhere, and I have friends that will give me a ride if I need it. I hope this answers your question. Again, I apologize for both: 1) not answering sooner; 2) not having any information about how to find work.
