I remember Jerome's 1993 rookie year with the Rams. Every time I think of this guy, it takes me back to that year where he was named "Offensive Rookie of the Year".

True Jerome Bettis Story: Me and my cousin were lifting weights at a local recreational center and met Jerome Bettis and started working out with him. I'm talking to Jerome about my goals of being All State in football for the upcoming season. He than tells me he plans on being the #1 High School football player in Michigan. When he walked out the weight room to get some water me and my cousin busted out laughing at him for saying he would be the #1 player in the State. Well, he ended up being the #1High School football player in Michigan, 1st team All American in High School and College, Pro Bowl, Super Bowl Champion and Hall of Famer. 😂

He was a beast at both levels but in college one of the best ND ever had

Lou was a great motivator! As a Michigan alum, we would have loved to have Bettis at UM, but I guess no one from UM bothered to visit his home, thinking a Detroit guy would just choose the hometown school. Many from Detroit & elsewhere in MI, have chosen other schools.

But on the same note, Lou Holtz should have been a little gentle to his players. His hard attitude and demeanor BROKE MANY A GREAT PLAYERS... Had Lou Holtz showed a gentler side to his players AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, OPENED UP THE PLAY BOOK... HE COULD HAVE WENT DOWN AS THE GREATEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL COACH IN HISTORY... But i still love the Man, and i hate the man responsible for ousting Lou Holtz
