The Office characters had a very slow departure from “real people” into more zany, hyperbolized, sitcom-like caricatures. And I can’t blame them with certain characters (like Creed, who necessitates that type of insanity, or Mose); but I can’t seem to get over it when it comes to Jim or Pam, or really any of the other characters for that matter.

The show really did jump the shark around late season 5. It happens to the best of them. Seasons 2-4 and much of 5 are amazing and as good as people say though, and there are good episodes still after season 5... It just definitely did have that moment where it went too far into preposterous to the point one can't suspend their disbelief anymore. Same thing happened to It's Always Sunny a long time ago. SPOILERS The shark jumping moment IMO was when Michael left to form his own paper company, only to end up back at his old job. The entire arc was too silly and unbelievable that it was hard coming back from it.
