This song genuinely makes me cry

This is without a doubt the single best performance of Damon & Gorillaz. If Damon finally closes the book at this point, this song becomes his masterpiece-outro, his final curtain call....and it would be so perfect as that. All the lyrics point to it.... Gorillaz do not actually "exist" technically, and yet they have been so real to so many of us in their decades of production. Arriving in California, "already dead", searching for his soul after "Blur" and yet the story only just began for Damon at that point, and for Beck also, who was homeless in his early years, living in a wooden shed in a storm drain in LA. And yet....their lives were only just starting. Beck & Damon have worked both online and offline together for years now, supporting each other's bloom into the beautiful artists they are. Just 2 nerds, absolutely rocking it, changing the world, waking us up, putting fire in our ears, making us think...and no doubt going further and further beyond anything they imagined.... until....the... end.... .....and technically, it all happened right "where things, they don't exist...."

This is a great song. I was listening to it once and it made me feel melancholic. Without the material we are all just beings who are trying to get by on this little planet together. Yet the material is what holds us down, or fills some of us with desire, or forces us to see eachother and other than what we are, about 99% the same and all just trying to figure this thing called life out. When you close your eyes the material disappears, things stop existing. What are we more than a billion suns storing and burning energy, to just keep making progress.
