I really like your channel! I watch your videos all the time, and, I've purchased some of your plans. I think it would be really awesome if you would make a playlist that would show the order in which the tools should be made, progressing from the most simple and useful, to the most complicated. I would love to make all the tools you've demonstrated on your channel. I'm thinking of a playlist that would show an absolute beginner, with no tools, where to start, and how to progress, needing to purchase the fewest tools.

I have to say that this is not only one of the most creative woodworking channels on here, but is actually a pleasure to watch. No techno music, no ridiculously expensive machinery. I love all the jigs you made in here, but my favorite is probably the fine adjustment jig. The rounded end with the metallic tape and the magnet was an absolutely elegant solution! Thanks for reminding us all that this doesn't need to be overly complex, just well thought out.

It’s true… he uses like the most premium wood I’ve seen… like the plywood is pristine condition. Like not even a blemish in any of the layers. Then the extruded aluminum he uses along with his fasteners are all premium products. I’m not saying this is the case for him, he may have special circumstances or connections. But to build almost any of his larger pieces of equipment I’m sure that the price of materials is very similar to the price buying the professionally manufactured units. Obviously not the top of the line units but mid grade ones for sure. Maybe in Japan materials are cheaper… maybe he bought a excessive amount before inflation ruined everything.
@RDAUGIRD
@RDAUGIRD 8 місяців тому
@@dallinostler4794 I believe, in Japan and other places over there, woods that we consider exotic are fairly common. Also, a lot of these are built with small pieces. Maybe he gets drops from a high-end furniture builder. Great work to be sure.

Just an FYI to folks who want to make these, some will only work with the router bit you base it off. For example, the edge guide with the hinge (around 16 mins) only gives you the right line with the original bit. If you use a wider or narrower bit, the line will be off by the increase or decrease in the radius of the bit. For some jigs, you prob won’t ever use a different bit. But for some, you may, so just a word of caution (though almost anyone getting to the level of making and using these jigs prob already realizes that). That’s not a knock on these at all. These are amazing. I love how you use the jigs you’ve made to help make the other jigs. It really helps demonstrate how useful and versatile they are. A lot of other UKpostsrs show you how to make a jig they say is useful, but then they don’t really demonstrate the usefulness as well. They cut up some scraps or something, which is fine and all. Oftentimes, I’m looking for how to make a jig for a specific reason. But if I’m just out here looking for what are some useful things I didn’t know I needed, having some actual use cases in the video is really helpful!

Well, I stumbled on this and wound up losing 45 minutes, but gaining a whole BUNCH of ideas. And the video production is *perfect*. Nicely done! I prefer to do my joinery on the table saw vs the router, but I'll be making that four-fence thing right off. I'm ashamed to admit how often I've taped scrap to get similar jobs done, and then had to do it all over again for a slightly different situation.
