Justin Fields had to deal with COVID like no other and he still was Elite with no Spring Training, one third the reps and practices, with injuries, with no coach, uncertain which team he would play the upcoming week, missing 20+ players on the team...STILL Fields was a beast...and the year before that he was 2nd ONLY to Joe Burrow. Justin Fields is QB1 with the highest ceiling!!

@@youngboyxaj6692 it’s pointless talking to you if you’re unwilling to spend the time watching tape and to listen, properly and in full to Simms analysis of the QBs. If you do both of these things then we can have a constructive conversation. OTherwise I’m not prepared to waste my valuable time debating with someone who is uninformed and simply using “stats” and klatts whose track record is appalling as your so called evidence Fields is the next Mahomes.. I watch tape and study, seriously study with my own eyes the QBs and how that will translate to the much more challenging NFL defenses. Fields has many flaws that Simms points out and after studying every Fields snap of last year I agree. It seems many NFL teams also agree... I can give you my full analysis of Fields if you wish - let me know.. College “stats” can be useful but if you rely on them solely then you do not understand the game and especially the NFL my friend. Also, if you’re going to use stats as your only guide to predict success, then you really should study ALL the stats - I suggest you go away and find out Fields rating “under pressure”, then compare to Jones and the others. The difference is HUGE and I’d suggest that as you rely on “stats” so much and if you are able to understand that NFL defenses pressure QBs far more than in College then you may have to change your overhyped view on Fields somewhat... Happy tape study 👌😊

A lot of the reasons why Fields would hold onto the ball longer, is because the timing of the routes by his receivers. The plays took time to develop longer.

Yes and no there were enough time it was too noticeable he had a really good OLine and receivers as well as having mobility in his game, he’s too good and had too many other tools around him to hold onto the ball as long as he did a lot of times, times where he should’ve even just thrown it away, what you said is true about the route development but he still held onto the ball long enough to warrant comments about it, it’s also a coachable thing and doesn’t affect my ranking on him personally

@RC-9
@RC-9 3 роки тому
@@miaduque8014 So, the 2 QBs I massively disagree with Klatt are Jones and Fields, so here's my evaluation of every one of Fields plays from 4 random games last season (note none of these games are the 2 stinkers he had v Indiana and Northwestern): 1. Nebraska Every one of Fields completed passes were to open, usually WIDE open, receivers and he was under very little or no pressure. When under pressure he always looks to run first, and does not throw good passes. He freezes when there's no running lane and is sacked easily, he has stiff hips and doesn't move around the pocket well. He threw receivers into massive hits twice nearly getting them killed. Commentators are ridiculous stating "near flawless game bla bla" - Andy Dalton would've been flawless with that protection and wide open receivers!! No wonder people start to believe all the hype... 2. Penn State Slightly better that a small number of completed passes were under a "little" pressure, but only 1 completed pass was to a covered receiver. And again he mainly either runs or throws incompletions when pressured and players are covered. Listen to the commentators - they're always shouting "the receiver is WIIIDE OPEN"... OLine protection brilliant again. Fields NEVER completes a pass if he's pressured and the receiver is partially covered. 3. Mich State 17 completions - "only 1" was to a covered receiver, again they're all WIIIDE OPEN - listen to the commentators!! I could throw these passes, you probably could! And here's the very worrying part - every single one of his incompletions were because he was pressured or the receivers were partially covered. Watch the game and tell me otherwise... When he's pressured he always looks to run. Or worse, he actually 'freezes' sometimes, and gets sacked. That doesn't happen to Great NFL QB's... I don't see progressions at all, other than very simple WIIIIDE OPEN 'check downs'. He threw receivers into big hits again. Again commentators saying how amazing he is is absolutely ridiculous bullcrap! Yes he runs well (at college level) but his throws in this game were to wide open receivers and he was under no pressure in the pocket. So yes he's accurate if he has no pressure and the receiver is open - that's not enough to be a good NFL starter... 4. Clemson Every completion except 1 was to open receivers and "EVERY" completion was under no pressure. Again when they were covered or he was under pressure he either ran or threw incompletions. By the way - he runs well, but he is not Lamar, he will get smashed in the NFL, he is another RG3 injury waiting to happen. He throws a nice long ball IF he isn't under pressure, but if receivers are covered he doesn't know what to do (if he has no simple checkdown). The pocket was huge in this game as per usual and listen to the commentators again, "receivers are WIIIIDE OPEN"...!! The tape is pretty conclusive, Fields is in a very well protected and schemed offense where he was throwing to WIDE OPEN receivers 90% of the time under zero pressure 90% of the time, and when he was under pressure or receivers were covered he struggled badly unless his legs saved him. There is a HUGE risk here that when he gets into the superfast, super schemed up defenses of the NFL it will be a completely different ball game for him and he could be another one of those overhyped "athlete" college QBs who simply cannot cope in the Pro game...
@RC-9
@RC-9 3 роки тому
Sorry Mia, one more thing I was watching PFT yesterday and they showed a Pro Football Focus stat from 2019 comparing the 3 College QB's Jones, Fields and Lance. Comp% was similar although Jones was highest with 76.7%, Fields had 69.9% TD/Int Jones 41/4, Fields 22/6 Avg depth similar Fields 10.4, Jones 8.8 Deep pass rating similar Jones 128.0, Fields 117.2 But then here was the HUGE disparity which if I'm honest didn't surprise me at all after watching the Fields tape: Under Pressure Rating - Jones 123.9, Fields 54.1 (Lance 117.0) I mean, WOW that's a huge difference of 69.8!! And looking at the ESPN 2021 NFL draft QB class piece, Fields was even worse under pressure in 2020, again miles behind Jones! This has to be hugely concerning for NFL Teams where the QB's are pressured far more than Fields ever was at Ohio State... Whereas Jones under pressure performance is phenomenal, with his stats comparing to Joe Burrow's records the prev year (as per Mcshay and Parolin's glowing assessment of Jones on ESPN). So, in summary you have to watch the tape from an NFL lense, not a college lense, lots of completions stats may look good but that's only when Fields is not pressured and his receivers are open. However, when one or both of those things isn't true - which will be a heck of a lot more in the NFL - he runs, panics/gets sacked or throws incompletions - which many will become interceptions in the NFL. I also don't see him doing progressions (except to wide open checkdowns) or many anticipation passes and he throws his receivers "into" big hits, whereas watch Jones tape and every throw he makes hits the receiver in stride and allows them to carry on running and make yardage after catch. I fear Justin is another one of those over-hyped college 'athletic' QB's (by so called tv analyst experts that don't actually study film) that just doesn't have the natural pocket presence, nouse and passing ability that will cut it in the superfast super complex NFL defense World... Hope I'm wrong by the way he seems a great kid :)

@ecyranot 3 роки тому
I don't like saying a weakness is lack of experience. I would say the lack of experience leads to the weakness, for example, lack of pocket presence, lack of patience in the pocket, etc., all the things you develop through experience. Watch Trey Lance and you don't see subtlety in his play. Big arm, big body, but he ran as many times as he threw. He is a project and a very risky pick. No way I would pick him before Jones, who has all those subtleties.

LMAO 2018 draft QB rankings 1 Darnold 2 Mayfield 3 Rosen 4 Jackson 5 Allen - completely wrong way round 2020 draft QB ranking 1 Burrow 2 Tua 3 Love 4 Herbert 5 Fromm - Tua is average and Herbert 4 are you kidding me!! He will be wrong again this year as Fields will be not be as good an "NFL QB" as Wilson or Jones. Klatt should self scout himself and spend a whole week listening to Chris Simms evaluate QBs, he will learn loads and maybe next year he might actually get something right..!! Lol

Woke narratives and media love to prop up Justin fields when in reality he played 6 games and still lost to Alabama. His arm talent is the least out of the Trey lance, mac Jones, and trey lance. HE folds under elite defenses and strives in a one read Qb system. Sad but it’s the reality. Inflated stats in the big ten don’t really mean much against SEC competition

He fought against the woke media in order to play this year😂 the woke aren’t high on this guy that’s why he is dropping. Good arm talent, completion percentage, and touchdown to interception ratio. He had like 2 bad games and people lose their minds.

@@levimoell6599 You should here Chris Simms "negatives" on him, because his "bad short passes and technic" can be seen even in his best games. And if you are not great on 10-15 yards passes, you will have a problem in the NFL.

Fields has more arm talent than Jones. He has a stronger arm. Also he is very athletic. At worst he is a mediocre thrower and a good runner. Like Josh Allen his first few years before this past season.

@@abhinavbinu3545 I think Fields is the best athlete of the bunch. But he prefers to run quickly if #1 read isn't open. He must learn to pass and go through his reads fully before running. Running QB take a beating in the NFL. Also, his team was almost always 10X better and his passing attack against top teams like vs bama/clemson was to inconsistent.

@@abhinavbinu3545 I don't think he has a higher ceiling than Wilson. But he does compared to Jones. However Fields floor is also lower too. NFL for a QB must be pass then run when you must. Fields is the opposite. He might change, but usually that trait doesn't last long. When he does throw, holds the ball to long. Against bad teams he threw well nothing elite. Against teams equal in talent he wasn't that good throwing. Also, I think if he stayed in the SEC instead of the Big 10 he wouldn't have had the stats he did, even with a comparable talent level at georgia.
