the colours of the lights do have meaning!! during the scene when the girl is cheating in the background , the lighting is blue, and blue means loyalty. when the lights are flashing at the end, they’re orange, which means success and confidence. maybe I’m looking too into it but he could mean he’s finally *confident* enough to talk about what olivias *success* did to him??

I've had a lot of fun finding the cuts in this. There is one when he opens the door to where the band is (you can see the light flicker on the left side of the screen if you turn it to .25x speed) and the same thing when it pans from him to the non descript blonde girl and it goes past a french door closet. There are probably a couple more. Still, very impressive directing

it's interesting how at 1:42, joshua takes lead guitar while the band refuses to face him. he even peeks at his band members to see if any of them are vibing with him, but they aren't. it might represent how even joshua's supporters fail to pay attention to his true self. though they work together, joshua still feels bittersweetly shunned.

pushing aside the drama surrounding Joshua and Olivia, this song SLAPS. keeping secrets for someone who seriously hurt you is crazy hard. it's something i've forced myself to do, regardless of whether or not certain people deserve it. the line "i defended you still, cause i knew rumors could kill" hits so hard. i might have been torn apart, but rumors and gossip do slowly kill a person and i knew i could never inflict that kind of hurt on anyone else, no matter how much i wanted to.

@@lemurluver12 Well he did get harassed and death threats this whole year because of her songs (which isn’t her fault) but her not speak out against it and just her having a blind eye towards when she obviously knew, is kinda despicable and disappointing tbh… Relationships are a intimate thing and she put out a bunch of songs about theirs (which is 100% fine, most artists do), she just didn’t care about the precautions it had on him to this extreme extent. Not saying she should get hate. Just saying this whole situation showed more of her character, and sadly it was disappointing.

And I’m glad I had a whole year of enjoying Sour before I was turned off from it. After the EP trilogy interview ever changed. If Joshua and Olivia were still civil and talking BTS I would be ok. But knowing she cut him off after DL became successful is messed up. And she basically confirmed it. Further confirming the red red flag I got from hearing the “I’m so caught up in the news of who like me and who hates you” lyrics. She knew what has been happening. :/

Apart from the song, I am really impressed with the effort that was put into making the video for the song. It was all just a single shot with everything on point, the cueing of everything was perfect and the camera followed Joshua perfectly, the focus was only on him until the last part. This would have taken a lot of work to make. Hats off!

The whole back room scene is unreal. At 0:58 you can see the girl literally sneak behind his back with another man. And when the lights are flashing in the final scene, that symbolizes the hatred forced upon him. And she disappears from his life leaving him alone, and when the song ends, the lights stop. Symbolizing that now that his truth is out, he no longer carries the weight of her hatred and her secrets.

Guys the significance of the color orange here is really amazing - props to Josh and his team. The girl (presumably Olivia) wears a bright orange dress for all to see, which can be analyzed as her writing driver's license and sour about the breakup between the two, which the whole world praises. For Josh, the inside of his suit jacket is orange, (which we can see when he takes it off). He has held back his feelings of 2021 toward the breakup, maintaining his silence as angry liv fans come for him. With the release of crisis, secret, and set me free, he's finally sharing the emotions that he's withheld for all of 2021 after driver's license. This is acknowledged in the video as he takes off his jacket before confronting the girl. I have a tremendous amount of respect for both Josh and Olivia, their music is phenomenal.
