I was raised by single mom living on welfare going to public schools. I had to study my ass off because I wanted something better. I put my self through college working for minimum wage. No one helped me my mom passed away when I was 21. I had to work hard for everything I have. Anyone can make it if you are willing to put in the work.

Behar has been and continues to be a waste of clean air. How she is still spouting her crap on the television airwaves is beyond me. You gents are spot on, once again.

I am a 47-year-old white woman who grew up in Dallas, and we lived so poor that we had a hole in our bathroom between the toilet, and the bathtub that we lived with for years where we would have to jump over to go to the bathtub and we never had food. We didn’t have a phone or cable or electricity was constantly being turned off. My mom was a single parent and she was turned down for food stamps because she made minimum wage so basically back then if you made anything, then you would turn down for food stamps, then we would have to wait in lines on certain days of the month to get a big ass block of cheese, a big ass jar of honey and a big ass jar of peanut butter and when we were lucky we had the church donate us food this went on until I was about 10 when my mom would put herself through school where we had to watch her selves and she worked a full-time job, so we basically raise ourselves I would watch my younger sister and my older sister because she was a little slow and it wasn’t until I was 15 when my mom got a decent paying job where we could have a little bit more food and actually get some groceries and have electricity on more frequently, and when I say we was poor, we had flour sugar and cinnamon that we would mixed together, and if we had electricity, we would bake it if we did it, we would cook it out in the sun and that’s what we were eating!! But because we were white, we didn’t get any of those extra things that the government was giving out. We were so poor when I cut my foot open with a beer bottle that was outside. When I stepped down it took two weeks for me to go to the doctor and they had to re-cut open my foot to get the glass out then when I was 15 I was shot in the head with a 22 in my neighborhood. It took the ambulance 45 minutes to get there after calling them three times because I thought we were joking and we didn’t even have the money to go to the doctor but the police made my mom take me there and wanted to call CPS on her because she had just got home from working at her second job at the time as if that was neglect. Then when I was 18 I end up getting pregnant and by the time I was 22 I had three kids had my tubes tied, but that whole time I was working a full-time job and I was going to school full-time in college, and I was turned down for food stamps because I made a dollar more than the required amount to make so we would have to make do with about $20 of food to try to feed me and my kids most of the time I just didn’t eat but to this day I’ve always had to work a full-time job a part-time job and that’s with a bachelors but there was always a reverse racism. When it comes to government assistance I would see people that I knew with nice cars living with their parents, one kid getting child support, and they would still get food stamps and Medicaid this still goes on here in Texas. It has always bothered me to hear when people talk about white privilege and automatically assume because you’re white that you’ve had this great life with two parents and a nice income yet every single white person I grew up with, we all grew up, extremely poor with hard-working parents most of them single parents with absolutely no government assistance not even temporary emergency assistance, so we have to hear non-white people talk about white privilege as if we’ve ever experienced that and I’m not just talking about income we were also treated the same with cops. If we were walking in the area, we were accused of doing or looking for drugs, even though we lived in the area, we’ve had guns pulled on us by police and treated like crap because we were poor by the white people like we were just garbage, so it really does annoy me the whole thing about basically assuming that poor means that you’re not white people never speak up for the people who grow up like I did and there’s a lot of us, we fit into that category where we get judged by both ends even my kids father, who is Black his family had more money than my family in a nice area yet I would hear them talk about issues as if they lived where I lived, and that would annoy the hell out of me like that applied to them. I just don’t take people serious when they start talking about having hard times growing up if you didn’t live a life like mine like when you have to literally find food or eat the most ridiculous. Crap because you had no food or not eat at all versus their so called hard life. In reality the reason why you don’t hear from the group of people I fit into is because we just sit back. Just deal with life and not complain. It is what it is you try to get out of it make what do with what you have, and that’s it everybody nowadays want to be a victim words make them kill themselves or they expect apology from public figures that don’t even know them. Everyone’s a bunch of crybaby ass little bitches like seriously how are you gonna let name-calling or someone disagreeing with your beliefs or your life affect you like grow the fuck up they don’t mean nothing to you, so why do you care people need to just stop caring and stop expecting everyone to Taylor their life to their entitled ass ways. But I’m thankful for how I grew up because I know how to handle things I don’t act like a little punk that can’t handle life when things get hard I know how to figure it out. I don’t go crying or complaining to others or talk about PTSD or depression or whatever bullshit they’re talking about now every time something happens to these victims because they’re so weak minded, they physically make me sick.

There is a family of Cambodians here in my town. They came here in the 1970s as refugees escaping Pol Pot and The Khmer Rouge. They had no money and no English. They immediately learned English, got jobs, worked hard, saved their money, and bought a small convenience store. They continued to work hard and now they have a chain of businesses, they are community leaders, the kids all graduated at the top of their classes while working in the family business, and they are liked and respected by everyone. Ya wanna know what they DIDN'T do? They didn't whine and gripe and complain. They didn't blame everyone else for their troubles, and they didn't sit there with their hands out. They are the poster children for 'The American Dream'. THAT is the America I know and love!

I'm white and was going to school for nursing and i had a 8 yo daughter well applied for foodstamps they denied me foodstamps the worker called me willfully unemployed. So she gave my daughter 75 dollars a month. That worker penalized me. And when I started school there were people of color that were getting free rent food stamps and paid to go but I wasn't given foodstamps on my behalf so reverse discrimination. But that didn't stop me I got through it and i graduated but i didnt give up i had a child to support
