I bought two of the non-pro systems and I'm hoping they play well together in my three separate network home. I have a VPN network for my surfing, a non-VPN network for my work and streaming, and an separate VPN network for my IoT devices. I've had several tp-link devices over the years and have been quite happy with them. I'm currently running separate amplifi HD devices on two networks using a mesh setup, and a third amplifi non-mesh setup for the IoT devices through a pfSense router/firewall. All the older Wifi5 standard. What sold me on adopting 6E is the dedicated 6 Ghz backhaul and three nodes to use as APs to hook my network drives and Plex server into. I frequently move large files across the network and hope I'll get the speeds promised by tp-link. Anyway, enjoyed the review, thanks!

Thanks for your very clear and useful explanation of the Back Haul feature and how that makes the WiFi 6 capability of this Deco mesh system immediately useful even without WiFi 6 compatible devices. I have a TP-Link Deco mesh system in a very old cottage with very thick walls and it works effortlessly and very reliably. The only problems I have had is when a recent thunderstorm knocked out my wifi settings and I had to reset and reconnect all my three Deco units. Not a problem caused by TP-Link. Really enjoy watching out for and then watching your video reviews. You do a great job! I started with your long Garmin Vivoactive 4 reviews and have never looked back! Take care and thanks!

I recommend in the strongest possible terms to use a wired backhaul using CAT 6 cable. No matter how much better Wi-Fi is now than it used to be, its goal is still to connect devices to the web at speeds CLOSE to that provided by your ISP. The actual connection speed of course, depends on a variety of factors.. Whereas a wired connection will give you 100% of the speed you are paying for. It’s not quite as convenient I guess. But to me its more convenient than getting less connection speed than I’m paying for.

Great review. I've already bought these and will be transporting them to a house overseas, so not yet tried. One question, why did you leave the 2.4GHz network on the modem/router? Why not just disable all wifi on the modem and set up a 2.4GHz network with the same access point name on the Deco? I've swapped out routers using this technique and all my smart light bulbs etc continued to work without any intervention

I had the 55 series with three nodes, and it kept disconnecting frequently from the base router. now I have the 75 series with 2 nodes and it’s also been disconnecting at the base, but not as frequently. Keep in mind I have Xfinity 400 Mbps and brand new Motorola 3.1 modem. The way I was able to reconnect was by unplugging everything and plugging it back in and It reconnected. My question, is this a problem that other people are having or Is it my Internet service provider losing connection? My modem always shows connection, hence why I think it’s the routers and not my ISP. Any feedback will be appreciated, so I know whether or not I need to send it back, thanks.

The more powerful, and more expensive Deco XE200 is out now. Worth a look if you are wanting even more capability / future proofing. They have better range (more internal antennas) and sport a 10GB WAN port and 16 streams, 10 more than the XE75 Pro. I'm probably going to pick up at least 1 of the XE75's though for one of my out buildings. I do love how these all play well together.
@JSyntax
@JSyntax Рік тому
Wow! I want this now.
@richellebrittain2127
@richellebrittain2127 Місяць тому
A couple of issues with the XE200: First, it still has only ONE >1Gb Ethernet port; it only bumps it up from 2.5Gb to 10Gb, so it still can't do >1Gb wired backhaul. (It might go higher with combined wired & wireless backhaul, but almost certainly not 10Gb combined.) Second, right now the Deco BE63 2-pack (their basic Wi-Fi 7 model) is $100 cheaper than the XE200 2-pack (the only size available) on Amazon; all its Ethernet ports are 2.5Gb so it can do up to 2.5Gb wired backhaul. I suspect most people considering an XE200 would be better off with a XE75 Pro or BE63 depending on their Internet speeds.

I just bought a 3-node setup today (Dec of 2023 for $350) and plan to hook it up tomorrow. My current router is a dual band, and actually has 2 SSID's (2.4 and 5.0) - All of my devices have to connect to one or the other and be switched manually if I need to. From what I gather, this XE75 system will just have a single SSID, and each device will automatically connect to whatever band it can get the best signal on? - (Does that sound right?) - Some of my devices are 2.4 only, so those I am not too concerned with. I am wondering about the last 3 security cameras I bought that can use Wi-Fi 6 (not 6e). I am hoping those connect automatically with the higher speed of the 5.0 band, while using the wi-fi 6 higher speeds? My wife works from home and her Cisco Meraki has to connect with an ethernet cable, so I am hoping it can plug in to one of the lan ports on a node and get connected, without my having to run 75' of cable to her new home-office we are setting up for her. (fingers-crossed)

TP-Link Deco segregation of the 6GHz band with WPA3 only password encryption creates headaches for 6E devices with mixed WPA2/3 encryption & backward compatibility. I was hopeful their new WiFi 7 MLO SSID on their Deco BE63 which combines 5 & 6 GHz bands would help but this SSID also requires WPA3 and most 6E devices with both WPA2 & 3 routinely get dropped when they transition backward to 5GHz with WPA2 encryption. Also, the Google Home app doesn't support WPA3 configuration, so I ended up having to configure my wifi 6E TV manually. This is why we need common standards with backward compatibility. I'd like to jump into the new BE85 or BE95 models but can't until this SSID & WPA segregation mess gets fixed
@richellebrittain2127
@richellebrittain2127 Місяць тому
Can you not set the 5GHz band to use either WPA2 or WPA3? My current ISP-provided Wi-Fi 6 (no E) router is set that way. Just because WPA3 is required on the 6 GHz band shouldn't prevent you from using WPA3 on other bands even if they also have WPA2 clients.

Main problem with this TP-Link camera is that it's coming from a Chinese company which is under CPP rule. For that reason I chose a product coming from an U.S company, as I'm less concerned about the consequences of any misuse that might take place.

I’m curious about the same, did you end up doing this?
@joephu
@joephu Місяць тому
@@CocktailCards if you plan to have one node act as your router, than option C is best with all 3 nodes connected to a unmanaged gigaswitch is best. My download speeds are amazing throughout the house. I just turned off my internet providers modem/router's wifi and put it in pass-through mode. This let's you access all the TP-Link settings.
@richellebrittain2127
@richellebrittain2127 Місяць тому
Though all three will work, option C is best for most people because it maximizes your available Ethernet ports at each node, plus it should add ports at the switch as well. If your Internet speed is 2Gb, option A might be better as it could potentially deliver 1Gb backhaul separately to each satellite (vs. 1Gb total backhaul for both satellites in B, or for those plus the switch in C).

Not at all.... I'd have to run a quarter mile worth of ethernet cable to do what he's doing with the 6E backhaul channel and as he showed in the video, you can share the 6E channel with your other 6E capable stuff presuming you have any (and he didn't). If you have the option to run cables to all of your nodes, more power to you, but that isn't really what a lot of wireless use cases are all about.
@DJaquithFL
@DJaquithFL Рік тому
@@Stormyism .. Then run the cabling, are you trying to convince me/everyone being lazy is a good thing? I have a house full of CAT 6A. Again a quad channel would solve this problem if you're lazy and don't want to run cabling. However, lacking dual 2.5 GbE just limits the hell out of this as a solution. In my area Frontier FiOS is getting ready to drop the price on 2.5 Gbps internet. Therefore, this would be a useless solution. If you're wondering why then you don't have children that game and download insanely large files, do you?
