I’ve always said the short stocky guy is the most difficult body type to fight. Judo or karate. It’s like wrestling a fire hydrant.
@paulx873
@paulx873 4 роки тому
true im actually the oppesit exept for the fact that Im short but fighting against those guys is always a challange. you can only get them by getting them out of thier ballance to use thier bodyweight aggainst them .👌 (My english is not the best)
@roberttompkins9991
@roberttompkins9991 4 роки тому
Paul x I usually try to use distance on them, which isn’t easy for me because I’m aggressive and really like to get in and control the inside which is where they are stronger than me. Ya never want to be right in front of them. But fortunately, my experience is that for some reason short stocky guys want to try and fight like a tall lanky person, (short man complex I guess) they overextended themselves and that’s how I’m able to handle most of them, they have to make a mistake. but if they embrace their low center of gravity and short range advantage like Yasuyuki does in these videos, they become so tough to beat. And I’m kinda a thick man myself, but it’s the shortness that give them the advantage. Like how to you bend a tree stump? Answer: You can’t! You can only pulverize them.

Agreed. It's the same thing that happened to Tae Kwon Do. Traditional schools were badass and sparring was intense. It was replaced by the point fighting system were they basically train to tap you with kicks to get a score and not to give damage. You slowly see the same trend happening to BJJ. I love martial arts going mainstream but it gets really watered down.
