I see "circumcision" as taking something away from someone that was a part of them. When you are a victim of abuse the trauma weaves itself into your soul and I think people want to take that away from her by thinking she was just this tragic party girl anyway or thinking that she needs to move on already. As a victim of sexual abuse myself I understand, it's so easy for non-victims to be like "well, that sucks, but you need to let it go", when really it stays with you in a way.
