I don’t think it completely changed him if changed him at all. The Kevin Lee fight after that, sure, but that’s probably more of him just fighting another high level grappler with striking, but everything else was basically consistency issues that he’s always had. Still though, this was probably the first fight that I actually looked away from when seeing and hearing all that GnP Khabib was landing.

Take prime Mike Tyson, put him on his back, and put Brock Lesnar on top in mount with strikes only. Even though Mike obviously got the superior striking, no one is a great striker while on their back. We wouldnt say that Brock Lesnar is a better striker than Mike, just because he hits him more, and gets more significant strikes while laying on top of him. Khabib won this fight due to his wrestling, not his striking.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. Go watch a UFC KO compilation and watch how many of those guys are walking forward. It’s literally something they teach you not to do at the amateur level. It’s just Khabib has never been knocked out and if he gets stunned, he will shoot for the legs knowing very well how dominant his ground game is. Same reason why Oliveira just falls on his back when he is stun. Just watch this fight again, and count how many times Khabib gets countered coming in but remains unfazed.

Plus khabib did not have very good reach so him getting close to his opponents whilst having good guard is the way he closed the distance so that he could land his combos or shots and possibly get a clinch.
