I think it's still possible to fall in love over an internet/phone relationship. After a number of traditional relationships and breakups, I first met my wife in 1999 over the internet and we talked online and the phone for 3 years until finally we traveled to meet each other. We have been together ever since, finally made it official in 2011 and been married for the past 12 years. Things can happen like in the case of this video i suppose, but it can work out in some cases. Maybe it helps to be a little older than these two? My wife and I were 20 and 21 respectively when we met online.

It's weird this generation never really learned to socialize in person. We've been through this awkward phase around like 14...You should go through something like this when you first hold hand with a girl or something. Talking 2 years online is way too much btw if you actually want a physical relationship. Things wont magically work out if you're incompatible in some major way (like lack of physical attraction in person), and then you spent 2 years on nothing, instead of trying to meet somebody who likes you. There is no substitute for meeting people in real life, this is why dating apps are stupid (unless you meet in person after like 4 texts, which you should). I feel like a lot of young people are way too awkward and socially undeveloped for normal dating and building relationships. You cannot just skip these important socialization steps during your younger years.

I've met my best friends over the internet. And yeah, I love 'em. Everyone who doubts the legitimacy of an internet relationship clearly hasn't had one themselves and doesn't know that you can like a person based on their personality. I met one of my friends after 6 years of mostly chatting online and we're still buds. The guy literally took a flight to see me. I would take one too and support him if he was in trouble. Another friend I met almost 12 years after talking to online. This time, I was the one to fly across the ocean. Again, I would support him if he was in trouble and I do love him, just like my other friend. You can love a person based on their personality. I would trust them with my life. They have helped me dozens of times when I had no one who could help.

I had a few experiences with on-line relationships back in the late 90's. One person lived in Delaware, I lived in N.Calif while she die admit to began to have feelings for me however, she met someone else in DE after I had asked about meeting RT. My second one, was a year later from a chat room, where I did get to know someone well and had a connection, we talked about meeting. She lived in NJ. We planned it for late June 1999, she flew to the SF/Bay Area and checked into a hotel nearby. We meet up in the lobby, we hugged each other. We went to dinner, bike riding, got close. While the chemistry "was not there" for her, it was not a loss. We got to meet each and do things together. It was the best 3 days of my life, meeting someone new. She was happy with our meeting too.

I think that's one of the reasons why an online relationship could be bad. If you get too used to it just being online, it can then be awkward once you actually meet the person, so really, if you meet them online, it might be best to see about possibly meeting up somewhere between after a few days to a few months. Had he met her after 2 months instead of after 2 years, the results might have been better.

Yk I think why this might have also not worked out is because the relationship never seemed like deep or meaningful on both sides. Like for her it was probably just casual flirting. I do think that online relationships can work but only if you’re both serious about it, open with each other, and if you both make mature decisions and don’t rush into anything. I feel like being friends also helps, then meeting them irl and seeing if you want to take it further or just stay friends.
