After a tough first-half of the season, Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro came back strong to defend their national title. Evelen Walsh & Trennt Michaud took silver and Deanna Stellato & Maxime Deschamps took bronze. With Vanessa James & Eric Radford withdrawing, it's thrown some questions into which 2 teams will be going to the Olympics.

It’s a hard decision. Reward a team that’s been a reliable #2 but don’t really have the consistency and ability (now) to crack the top 10 at worlds/Olympics. Reward a team that’s been skating better this season, have big name reputations, and have top 10 potential - but are super inconsistent. If Vanessa and Eric had one more season under their belt together, the decision would be easier.

I think Walsh/Michaud deserve to go because they skated well at Nationals and they are currently in better form than James/Radford. If J/R couldn't even skate a clean SP and withdrew from the free skate, how would they able to skate at the Olympics in less than four weeks? Besides, W/M are young and they'd gain Olympic experience which could be really valuable at 2026 too. J/R will probably not continue until 2026.

They're always in good form at Nationals but never at international events... What's the point in sending skaters who can only perform well on home ice?

I don't understand how anyone can seriously argue that Walsh/Michaud deserved the Olympic spot. They've consistently scored much lower at international events. Being decent at Nationals isn't worth much if you can't replicate that internationally. James/Radford's international scores are significantly higher. It's not close, at all, and it needed to be for J/R's withdrawal to affect Olympic selection.

Honestly, all Canadian pairs had a bad and inconsistent season. J/R did not have a single clean skate at any international/grand prix events with aborted lifts, falls and out of sync spins. A lot of time, Nationals results are used to determine spots for the Olympics. If spots were already determined by international events, why bother have Nationals? And lets be honest, J/R does not stand a chance to podium at the Olympics. So regardless of who had higher scores, neither team will earn a medal. I think the 2nd spot should have gone to the more deserving team, perhaps the team that actually earned the 2nd spot for Canada and guess who that team is? Walsh/Michaud. J/R only decided to come out of retirement after the 2nd spot was secured. Not to mention what a snake Radford is. He did not tell Meagan in advanced, his partner that he WON OLYMPICS MEDALS WITH, that he is ditching her for James. Which essentially stripped Meagan of all future skating shows opportunities and that is where a majority of income is for many retired skaters. Additionally, he tried to justify his action by claiming it was Meagan's fault because she had a baby. And don't even get me started on James's feigned innocence about not being aware of her former partner's sexual abuse. The possibility of J/R continuing to skate together competitively for another season is practically zero. MT/M said this is their last season, so who is left in the pairs field in Canada? W/M, a team that will be sent to Olympics in 4 years and could use the experience of this year's for 2026. So yes, let send a team to the Olympics that will have no chances of winning a medal instead of a team that is the future of pairs in Canada. Can you even imagine the message SkateCan is sending to the next generation of skaters? You will not be awarded for your hard work. Instead, what you earned will be given away to people who swooped in at the last minute that don't deserve it.

@@happipooh Your dislike for James and Radford is based on hearsay and gossip. Vanessa is innocent as she says and shame on you for insinuating otherwise based on no proof at all. Eric did tell Meagan in advance, so STOP with the defamation of these skaters.

Dylan and Meghan talking about their former partners' new teams. I read somewhere that they will pair up? Is it true? I hope W/M get motivated the way V/M got motivated when they didn't make the 2006 Olympics.
