Probably the most down to earth Idol that you can connect to. She doesn't mask much lol.

She certainly deserves respect. But she actually is a "traditional idol". When she was starting out and becoming popular it was much more common for solo artists to be counted among the most popular idols. Even companies like YG tended to include very popular solo artists on their rosters (e.g. Gummy, Lee Hi, Se7en, etc.). For some reason (that I still don't fully understand), there was a shift around 2013~2014 for the big companies to almost completely move away from promoting solo idols (which explains why Lee Hi, one of the most popular rookie solo artists of the time, was left to rot in the YG dungeon for a total of 6 years out of the 7 years she spent there, basically destroying the initial fan base that she started with, and when she was allowed to release music, her promotions were very short and limited). IU is a survivor from that era and survived mainly due to being independent from companies like YG, SM and JYP. She has been able to control her own promotional schedule and has not had to wait for permission from a big company that had other priorities.

Also, to be totally accurate, there really is nobody who is "up there with THE BlackPink girlies" as you put it. There's "The BlackPink girlies"....then there is a huge gap and cliff. At the bottom of that cliff is IU....then there is another huge gap and cliff (but not as big as the one that drops off from BlackPink Mountain), at the bottom of the cliff that drops off from Mount IU...is everyone else.

Among the three, Seven is the only idol, and as it is now, in the second generation when IU made her debut, idol groups were the biggest waves and it was difficult for a solo idol to survive. If IU hadn't transformed into an artist, releasing an album filled with her own songs since the last fantasy, idol IU alone wouldn't have survived for 15 years. In the second generation, foreign members were selected to target the Asian market, such as China and Japan, but you know it doesn't make sense to have the most successful idol group in the current 3rd and 4th generations, who designed the group based on more careful and meticulous overseas expansion, compete with the second generation solo and overseas fandom. Even if it's not IU, if you have any idea that the efforts made by the first and second generation idol groups to advance overseas would have helped BLACKPINK with any data, it shouldn't be.

Explain for what? Nobody looks down on IU, but you mention that you do not care about others, Look like you regret that IU is not the NO.1 nowadays. You should make up your mind that nothing stands still forever. The important thing is that please do not relate BP as the reason makes your IU fade out.

Well, she deserves her popularity. But her stability is best explained as a result of her being independent from companies like SM, YG and JYP. If she had been under any of those companies, she probably would have gone nowhere and possibly would not even appear on the list. Around 2013~14, those companies basically just stopped supporting solo idols (even though they continued to support solo projects of their top group members). That's why Lee Hi, one of the most popular rookie solo idols in the 2012~13 period ended up having to leave YG after 7 years of almost no promotions at all (spending a combined total of 6 years with no promotions at all and only very short limited promotions on the rare occasions that she was allowed to release music).
