No they are not , they are the originators of an obvious form of electronic music and at least half a dozen were earlier, the difference ? Lets make a song about robots , how original in 1978 , now numan made a song about people fucking robots , thats far more interesting, synths were as early as mid 50 s so kraftwerk was 20 years later

@@cnfuzz The other bands however where more Wave like. Kraftwerk sound got used by DJs in the USA together with funk and disco records which set the roots of two whole new genres: Techno and Hip Hop. It was the minimalist sound of Kraftwerk, that made Techno and Hip Hop possible.

@@cnfuzz yes, they are, without a shadow of doubt. godfathers not in a sense of having invented the idea of electronic music, but the were the ones to popularize and were one of the first groups not utilize any traditional instruments, but electronics not intended for music in the majority of their work. Most artist that used electronic means before that, also had traditional instruments incorporated. They also defined the aesthetics for electronic early music and brought expression and aesthetics together. So yes, they definitely are the godfathers of electronic music as we know it.

synthilady Jo. Ich musste auch laut lachen... Aber was gab es damals im Fernsehen auch an Alternativen: Adam & Eve, Roy Black, Rex Gildo, Lena Valaitis und Co. Dagegen wirkt alles andere wirklich als Rockmusik... Was das Fernsehprogramm anging, war es wirklich eine sehr brave Zeit damals.

Blau Ja, es gibt in der Tat auch heute noch Musik, die sich zumindest halbwegs innovativ anhört, wie bspw. das neue Album von Henrik Schwarz. Aber ob es nochmal so eine große Musikrevolution geben wird wie damals in den 50ern mit Rock n Roll (Bill Haley oder Chuck Berry) oder in den 70ern mit Synthpop (Giorgio Moroder oder Kraftwerk), bleibt fraglich. :(

+MrsAdely Verklärte Nostalgie. Es gibt noch sehr viele neue kreative Künstler, man muss sie nur kennen. Die hiesigen Radiosender sind nur zu doof sie auch mal zu spielen. Hat aber nichts damit zu tun dass sie so angeblich nicht geben soll. Zudem steht es dir frei selbst einen neuen Sound zu kreieren anstatt nur mit dem Finger auf andere zu zeigen. Sollte heutzutage ja jeder hinkriegen auch ohne Instrument.

CosmoCortney It makes it sound more mysterious and actually kinda cooler! I fell in love with the German language because I grew up listening to mostly german song versions of Kratwerk. I remember one time trying to get a german girl at my university to translate "Radioactivity" for me. She said she couldn't understand what they were saying. Either that or she was a fake German (she probably realized I was hitting on her!)

+CosmoCortney Well, the German sounds to us probably like the Russian bit sounds to you !! Actually, some of the German words are similar to English, so they tend to stick out and you can link the bits in the middle. Und, kann ich jetzt Deutsch verstehen aber mein Deutsche ist nicht perfekt !!
