generally products that work on really curly hair are still great for straight hair but not the reverse. So while straighter hair can handle harsher products or less hydrating products, it also is genuinely fine receiving more sensitive & hydrating products which is what curly hair needs. I would argue curly hair shampoos and conditioners are more inclusive. That being said there are obviously other products (i.e. oils, mousses, creams, etc.) that are specifically for curly hair and would probably over-hydrate or leave unnecessary residue in thinner/straighter hair types - shampoo and conditioner is generally not one of them though since it's cleansing and rinsed out.

my son has straight hair but the products formulated for it dry out his scalp do i have to use products for girls because they hydrate his scalp and they make his hair shiny

Look at this comment section and you can see just how many gullible people exist on this planet...
