To be fair to the members "missing", they have other roles to fulfill as an MP, time on the benches whilst good for the show, means they are not dealing with issues in they're constituencies, so they have to strike a balance. Sometimes that means missing somewhat important debates. As long as they are there for the vote I'm happy for MPs like the labour one here, to represent me in the house of commons.

@@Jase29Blair deported 10,000 foreigners every year, Brown did similar, Cameron did similar, even Theresa May managed to deport thousands.........bearing in mind there were ZERO boats prior to 2015 the problems have arisen the past 8 years for a variety of reasons including the Tories anti-slavery legislation which permits asylum seekers to seek asylum under that legislation. Not all the Tories fault of course but certainly their past 3 Home secretaries have demonstrated vast levels of incompetence in applying the current law.

Legal migration (due to labour shortages) has been 20 times higher than people coming in small boats. Also, due to Brexit, majority of workers are now coming from India and Africa, who are less likely to go back home, at some point, than a EU citizen.
