People say they hate her new music because it isn't depressing like Born To Die (Carmen, Dark Paradise), Ultraviolence or Paradise but her Lust for Life era you can she she's become more happy and people don't seem to understand that her music tells her feelings, it doesn't matter if you like it or not. But we should remember that she got depressed and said she wanted to kill herself and everybody was critizing her for it; instead of helping her. One thing I love about Lana is that she's not afraid to use current tech while conveying a nostalgic atmosphere. Like the clips where she's shining a phone light on her. If she wanted a "timeless" feeling she could've used any type of lighting instead of a phone that could give a very time-specific feeling to the video. But she's not afraid to ground herself in the time she's in, almost like she's turning her present into nostalgia for her future self to look back to. Idk if that makes any sense lol

i’m listening to this song as I’m coming down from my shroom trip. i just started listening to ride then just kept listening to Lana as my trip went on. i feel like I got my girlhood back after this trip, like that sweet and genuine curiosity that only you yourself can encapsulate. i feel like I’m able to really embrace and live the true artistic side that is me. Lana has always provided the sound, and it mixed with tripping is simply bliss.

100 years from now this song will still be golden, might be her greatest record. Nfr the album helped me get through a dark phase in 2019. Lana is able to take you through different phases with just her words. She paints a picture perfect portrait that leaves you in awe replaying the scenarios over and over and over.

This woman has a true gift. Something very few artists have. The ability to immerse the listener/viewer into her world and into her head without trying. She simply just does what she feels. The fact that her label and management let her put out a non pop 10 minute single shows that they truly believe in her as an artist and believe in self expression and that's so rare in the industry of labels treating artists as money making machines. She and Jack are putting out the record of a lifetime.

tjohnnie01 couldn’t agree more. She’s taking us to a place of imaginary freedom with her artistry every time. Makes us feel free for these few minutes. It just adds to this that her label lets her do whatever she wants. I think this day and age, this is what we need as music. It makes us quit from the real world for a few minutes.
