Yes Lance stepped on his foot but only for a split second but that was enough for time Green's reflexes to kick in. That made Green exert a bit more force to pull away but the opposing force is no longer on his foot causing him lose balance as he takes his foot off in the process. Imagine tug of war when you use all your strength only for the other team to let go of the rope. . . . . . Idk how accurate my theory is but it's 3AM and I was pretty baked a couple of hours ago.
