*A quick note - some of the external links to this video have mixed information. To be more precise, this is a large iceberg breaking up, which had already calved from the icecap. The large ones often collect at the end of the fjord, where it is a bit shallower. The NASA image at the end of the video shows this a bit more clearly*

Tsunamis were coming at the place where he was standing...but that said: NEVER go so close to the coast right there at the icefjord: sometimes the tsunamis actually kill tourists

If you have ever been on a frozen lake, when the ice cracks it bounces of the sides of the mountains and all around and it sounds very similar. Obviously this would make a lot more, but yes, very cool sounds.

if you've never experienced something like that it's difficult to judge how big that wave is going to be or how far it will travel. turning in and running up the hill was the prudent thing to do. many people have perished due to tsunamis caused by things like land slides

I remember when my family took a trip to Alaska in 1969, we stopped along side a roadway to walk to an iceberg. The iceberg held no coldness as we stood on top of it. The strange part was when we knelt down and put our ears to the massive sheet, we only heard popping & cracking noises. The Ranger said that was normal because this iceberg only has moved a few hundred inches in over a thousand years😳. Being kids we ran for our lives😅.
