This might be the best gift with purchase lego has ever done. Its cute, creative, nostalgic, and gives a nice collection of different space related vehicles. If only these were prints though.

Hey Tiago mate. Absolutely fantastic review video. Classic space LEGO is what I was bought up from back in the late 70s early 80s. They did a fantastic job on representing some of the old sets. The little mini ship looks much like the small gray one they made. The space baby’s are gonna be a smash hit I think. It’s a great shame it’s only a GWP with a high price tag to qualify for the set. I got the original mobile launcher for my 10th birthday, which was also right in the middle of my mum's black and white, self-developing photography phase. So there's a giant framed photo of me in my pyjamas and with a cast on my arm putting it together one-handed on the wall of her house. Great set.

Thought you were gonna say it was 300 or something...200 is still hefty, but manageable if you're familiar with playing the wait and bundle game.

I think the small ship is a remix of Classic Space ships, particularly 6824 Space Dart 1 (which has a steering wheel, large center and 2 smaller wingtip engines, and uses that space wing piece) and 6803 Space Patrol (steering wheel, color scheme, directional rockets on wingtips). Allowing for the microfighter-style design, i can also see a bit of 918 Space Transport-but I don’t think so, since there isn’t even a hint of a trans-yellow windscreen. The base gives me some vibes of 493 Space Command Center , too- mostly just in being wider than it is tall. At this scale, and absent either a carport or a direct connection to the rocket platform, the differences between that and Alpha-1 Rocket Base pretty much get lost.

They really need to.... stop... with how expensive these thresholds are. I want all of these gift sets but I don't 200$ want this gift set. (Same with the houses. I wish they just sold those for 25$)

I love this build. However it is another example of a set I would love to buy being locked behind a spending threshold. I try to limit my Lego spending and I haven't ever spent more than $50 on a new set. Let alone my budget for things like that is not that high. Gwp's are so impressive and it's a shame I have to not get them or get them on the second hand market.

I finally broke down and got the Eldorado Fortress as I have been eyeing it since its release. Wish Lego would create some battle packs for this and the Lion Knight Castle. The price point sucks as it means less gift with purchases can be obtained. I added the blue hat with my points to make the purchase more worthwhile. I hope the hat is for adults and is not a kids size.

With how jacked up prices are on LEGOs official stores in Europe, it’s usually cheaper to just buy the set on Bricklink than to get it as a “free” gift. I’ve seen LEGO sell Star Wars sets for nearly double what other stores sell them for and that’s not taking into account sales and stuff

I couldn’t resist and buy enough Lego sets to reach the threshold. All the sets were the most memorables of my childhood. We need more of these in the future

There are some big sets I have on my wishlist but I think I’ll hold out for now. While I usually leap for any classic theme GWPs, and I do love space, this one feels a little meh with so many stickers. Also because it’s baby scale it won’t really be compatible with any of my classic space sets. The blacktron gwp from last year on the other hand was a must have, as has been with the castle GWPs for me. With the medieval town square coming I’ll be waiting for the next GWP window or 2x points I think.

I'm super excited for this set. The mini scale actually reminds me of Heroica, and the other microfigs from that era.

Oh god, I just realized I used to have classic mobile launcher - I remember that rocket on the hinge! The small ship is clearly reference to the Galaxy Explorer LEGO 928 - two side thrusters and two antena - other classic ships have only one antena :)

I was so exciited when I saw the first images of this. Slightly deflated after seeing so many stickers. I was planning to pre-order some of the new star-wars sets when this GWP comes out to qualify for it.

I think the mini space ship looks like 6890 Cosmic Cruiser. Look at the logo placement, the antennas and the landing gear.

The small ship is similar to the 6811 Pulsar Charger (M-Tron). I have a friend who owns nearly 200 Chargers. I suppose these would be gone instantly with a lower spending threshold.

The flyer looks more like 6803 than anything else, with those blue slopes on either side of the pilot, but I think it's really a composite of well-remembered features.

On the requirements, I bought a mix of pre-orders and in stock items. The babies were shipped with the already released products. Good to know if you, like me, went crazy with the new cars!

Problem with GWPs are that they are not exactly free since LEGO store is much more expensive than other stores. So you have to answer yourself if this Set is worth the difference. For me in 99.9% situation the answer is "no" :(

I wonder what the production differences are between these sets and general purchase sets, and what happens to the remainder. Several sets have rushed by like this, some of them I didn't even learn about until it was too late. I get what they may be trying to do but I find it a bit wearying. I'm sort of the target demo for some of these sets but I can't keep up. It does teach me to let go, which is an important life lesson, I guess.

Great GWP, but the dates on it rule me out of getting one which sucks. I'll be spending enough, but not until payday on 27th at the earliest 🤦🏻‍♂️ Hopefully they do a second release of it later in the year 🤞

Im glad you review GWPs. The box art looks so fun and inviting, but seeing these sets built it's obvious this one isnt for me, so its an easy pass.

I still have the original rocket transport vehicle and it's one of the most awesome sets Lego has ever made.

This should have been a full size set. I would buy it even if I already own the original sets this is based on.

Space baby scale is awesome, this set is cool This shouldn't be a GWP, it should be widely released. Lego needs to make retro sets like this widely available and not limited to GWPs $200 is too high of a threshold for this Hopefully the exclusive space babies don't remain exclusive, maybe they'll come in the space CMF

The fact that this has such an absurd spending threshold, but is only a ''30 bucks set'' is so annoying, I would have bought several of these if it were normal retail. Now I gotta hope the Bricklink prices stay affordable on the aftermarket :/

This set is really cool, but I am very disappointed they are mostly stickers and not printed parts. I actually expected the threshold to be worse, upwards of $250/300 so I'm not too mad

I have definitely seen images of a Classic Space set that resembles that mini ship, I probably have the pieces for it actually. Sadly don’t know what it’s called.

I would love this, but the threshold is definitely far too much. And it doesn't help that the sets I would want to get will definitely be discounted elsewhere, either right now or in the near future. And they're full price at Lego's website, for the most part; yes there's VIP points, but that's not enough on its own unfortunately.

I think the little one is reminiscent of sets like 885, 6801, 6805 or 918

Lego just needs to bring back classic space and castle. It would get me back into buying lego and overlook their questionable business practices.

I see how this one is particularly good, but after falling for this 3 times, gwp is invisible to me. Funnily enough, it was the ray castaway one being so bad in the hand even though it looked so good that really put the concept in the bin. I guess i should appreciate how much effort lego make to avoid this effect in released sets.

I dunno if I'll be getting this set on the second-hand market or not (it'll be cheaper than getting it through the GWP program, I'm just not sure about the set itself), but I actually don't mind stickers, personally (I grew up in the '90s, and back then, your choices - with the exception of slopes and smaller elements - were, for the most part, stickers or no deco on the models), and therefore, will - whether by including the set or not - definitely be getting a couple of the sticker sheets from Bricklink once they become available ;-)

Well, i have a few old 200+ sets on my buy list so it won't be a problem getting this. Plenty of new ones as well, but they can wait.

The Lego anniversary space ship (10497) cost me under €90,- and has over 1200 pieces. Limited edition or no but €200,- for a little over 300 pieces is a really crap deal. And the space ship had no stickers and only PRINTS.

Call me crazy, but if LEGO feels the need to send free GWP sets to LAN members to review in an attempt to coerce someone into spending to the insane threshold, then why can't they just sell the sets at the retail level? I really wish GWPs were limited to parts packs, and have all sets available as retail.

Yeah, the spending threshold is kind of high ($150, would've been better). Luckily, I had saved up and had enough points to get the GWP, but reduce my cost to only $120 (I bought the LEGO City Express Train--wanted it, but was always on the fence for the past two years).

How do you get those stickers in place so accurately? Please tell us your magical secret. Great review, awesome set.
