LEGO Mindstorms 51515 - Compact Quadruped Walker (4 Directions + Turning)

2 роки томуInspired by an old clip of a small Lego Technic Hexapod with very smooth movement published by @vanTim100 in 2010, i tried to create a very compact but at the same time 4 motor driven quadruped walking base for Mindstorms 51515.
It walks in all four directions and turns left/right on the spot and you can also create more moves, like tilting (two legs up and two legs down) or just moving a single leg, because every leg is driven by its own servo-motor controlled by the hub.

Super cool mate. 2 thing i never did with lego. Offroad car and a walker. Some day ill visit again for inspiration. lovely moc. Very different from all others 👍

uses 4 motors though, i wonder if you have a sort of gearing chain set up maybe you could have tank drive with a rotating base? though this is also really cool

Excellent design! The axles moving the legs are made of cross axels. I’m thing they pull themselves out over time. Is it possible to use beams instead?

Thank you! Normally the cross-axels would not pull themselves out, because the pressure while contact with the ground pushes them together. But i also thought about and tried building something similar with beams. I think it is possible, but not in a robot which is this small. My results were not very nice yet. But maybe we will find a good way :)
