I don't understand how anyone thought having this girl run on a treadmill whilst singing an energetic song, infront of an international audience of 180million plus, was a good idea.

I feel bad for her because she obviously put her heart and sole into it

Unfortunately ruined by over-complicated staging 😭 it needed to be kept simple

The studio version of Maps was one of the best entries Ireland has sent for a long time. The staging was creative and ambitious but sadly didn't quite work well enough on the night; if she had done less running, it would have helped her voice ; very difficult for anybody to sing strongly while moving so much. Nonetheless, Lesley is clearly a talented songwriter and I like how she really engaged with Eurovision fans in the build-up to the contest; she actually gave a damn, unlike previous contestants we've sent *cough Nicky Byrne cough*. Wishing her the best of luck for her future career.

I don't understand why people who made the performances for Ireland and Romania didn't noticed that they can't sing with all these moves, running and dances? Also they made so strong studio versions of songs that can't be repeated live... I am from Russia and we had Yulia Samoilova several years ago, which studio vocals sounded like it was totally transformed. Also we had Yulia Savicheva in 2004, she is a great singer though, but she couldn't sing and dance at the same time. So, why the creators of performances for Romania and Ireland made the same mistakes? They had real examples that it's never work.

I know her live performance wasn't ideal but I still keep coming back to Lesley Roy and to this song. It's lovely.

This song sounds like it would fit in Frozen

The vocals were off in places, but I feel like it was one of the best written and sweetest songs in the competition, and the staging was great in my opinion but I can see why some thought it was too much. A pity it didn't get to the final!

It may sound weird, but I loved the performance with all its flaws. It sounded and looked so spontaneous, human and vulnerable, unlike most of the acts of this first semifinal.

As nice as she is. It was out of tune and she looked like she was struggling and forced. so I can see why it didn't go through. Its a shame as the song itself is very good

Such a great song and I love that you can hear the 'Irish-ness' in her voice.

She sounds like she got sick or her voice got broken for some other reason... poor girl, she had such an amazing song! She tried her best to make the show! But I agree with other commenters, it had a lot of movement and you don't really want to sacrifice your voice for some visuals as Romania did.

Although she didn't qualify I'm happy to be able to say I voted for her!

This is still one of my favourite entries from 2021. The vocals didn’t work out to well on the night, but I truly love the staging and the studio version absolutely slaps. I can’t believe it came last in the semi, she put everything into it.

The staging was such a disappointment for me. I get that it was meant to be unusual / creative, but it really didn’t translate well on tv. It was like something a kids’ tv presenter would do. The running around and arm movements were so cringey and the poor woman was ridiculously out of breath. I mean, she gave it her everything, but the staging was just ridiculous! It’s a shame, because it’s actually a really good song.

Firstly it has to be said that Lesley wrote a great song. Unfortunately when I heard the song when it was released in March, it sounded over produced and she struggled with her higher register. She had ample time to rectify this but didn't. Why write a song in a key that is out of her range. Secondly RTE should be ashamed for allowing a staging concept that clearly didn't work. I wish Lesley well in the future. Ireland will be back. Secondly ,Its not about the ability of RTE television and the country affording to stage the show again. The revenue generated by staging such a global show is phenomenal . This global show brings tourists and money to the economies of every country that is lucky enough to stage the show. It also showcases the beauty and culture of the host country which in turn brings tourists who spend money. Winners all round (Post Covid off course).

Staging: One of the most interesting. Vocals: Strained very unfortunate. Ireland was on my number three on this semis but after this performance, I was certain they will struggle and unfortunately they didn't pass through.
