The shape might be the same, but what matters is what has actually been changed, huge camera improvements, a better screen with a smaller notch, and improved battery life. Honestly, people need to stop obsessing over the shape of the corners of the device and start thinking on what actually matters on a smartphone

Apple should’ve launched Cinematic Mode as beta like they did with portrait mode. It really doesn’t look great.

Fingerprint sensor (optical or ultrasonic idm which), USB Type C, and customization are the last 3 things which the iPhone is missing that I feel android has a huge advantage over them with. I still think it would have been really cool if like with the iPhone X they included the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone inside the apple logo (same placement as the pixel phones). Truly a missed opportunity, but at this point I will gladly take any finger print sensor. USB Type C would just be nice since that is the general direction most chargers are heading towards, and the customization is something which isn't necessarily the biggest thing, but having the small things such as setting a custom ringtone for a friend and not having to spend money on it would be nice.

When I interviewed for a job at the Apple Store a few weeks ago, I actually asked because I was curious if there were any issues with chip shortages affecting products being sold and they said they haven't had any such issue yet. Somehow Apple is not affected by the global chip shortages as much, which in a weird way makes sense because most of the chips Apple uses are apple branded. It's good in a way that Apple isn't using a chip shortage to hike prices, compared to getting a graphics card the places that have stock have way over inflated prices.

I bought my S20 fe snapragon 865 here in Brazil for around $400 (usa), i think that the problem for me with iphones is not the smartphone itself, but the price (and not be able to download apps outside app store), since the announced price for the 13 pro max here is around $3000 (usa).

It’s insane how much the Pro Motion helps with battery life. Considering they were testing it on the phones last year, I think it’s feasible to release an update to give the 12 series adaptive refresh rate from 10-60Hz for battery life.

I bought an iPhone 13 Pro, switching back to iOS from a Google Pixel 3 (which I loved, but alas, time moves on). I went with the Pro because of the cameras - I'm a film student who also loves taking photos. I've yet to give it any serious tests, but I've taken some neat night mode shorts when walking the dog (I just wish I had more manual control over the shutter timer), and the macro is really neat. Also, whew, that higher refresh rate screen is smoooooth. I'm really impressed with the phone so far. My only niggle, is that I wish the device was a tiny bit smaller, so I could more easily use it one-handed. If only the Mini form factor had the Pro bells and whistles! This is as big as I'd want a phone to be - so I'm glad that I didn't get the Pro Max!

Here is what the iPhone 13 is missing as interns of software the ability to customize the length of the Flash like the vibration. This is very helpful for someone like me who has a hearing issue.

I don't know about you guys, but I can clearly see the difference. Specially when using the cinematic mode (it looks like they smeared Vaseline on the lens). EDIT: And I don't know what happened here 6:45 but the color in those photos look awful (look at the sky, the trees, Austin's skin looks green tinted).

My only complaints are the lightning port vs USB C and the price of the Pro models compared to some similarly specced androids. I got my 12 Mini on sale a month or so ago here in Australia for $888 AUD which the entry level Pro model is $1699 (and didn’t go on sale at all strangely). When you can get a discount and the cheapest current gen model is almost half the price of the Pro, I really couldn’t justify the upgrade at all when for doing basic tasks, the experience is so similar. Even at RRP of $1199, that extra $500 is a hard sell for me and for a lot of people who only use their phones for the occasional photo, calls, texting, emails and light social media use. I do a lot of reading on my phone and having the mini is really great as even though it’s a smaller screen, it’s one handable and that’s so convenient. And so light too. I’m sure the same applies for the 13 Mini. Unless you are, as you said, a content creator or big social media person, or have other pro uses for your phone, I don’t think the Pro vs normal phone distinction has ever been this significant. Unless you’re really after the big size and more durable stainless steel body like my grandpa, then the (11 but he might upgrade) Pro Max it is.

iPhone 12 line ups can easily have the cinematic mode since it is more of a software feature rather than hardware. But apple didn’t do it because its one of the selling points they have for 13 line ups🤔

For video and display, this is great! My biggest issue that keeps me away is how iPhone and Apple restrict what I can do with MY device. I like having a micro SD slot. I like having a headphone jack. I like being able to have more freedom with the software. I like being able to easily connect Bluetooth controllers for games. I used to love Apple, but once I learned Android, it's hard to go back.

My one gripe is that even now with a 120hz display and better battery life Apple still wont let us use custom live wallpapers. I just want to nerd out some of live anime wallpaper on my display and Apple still won't let me. Otherwise it's a great phone. So glad I got it.

My main complaint about the iPhone is that it charges so slowly, especially compared to my Xiaomi Mix 4, who gets 100W wireless charging. The experience is just night and day.

I would've LOVED if it came with touch ID on the power button or even in screen tbh. My 7+ is slowly shitting the bed and I'm debating whether to get the 13 Pro or not but if it had the touch ID, it would've been a 100% definite cop. I know people have moved to Face ID but there's just something about touch ID that holds me back from upgrading lol.

That cinematic mode looks kinda rough. The depth of field looks like an effect or filter rather than actual depth of field. you san see the way the background is still in focus around Austin's arms. Like it looks like those background auto blur effects that streamers use on their webcams.

The pro max has almost 10hrs of battery life im very impressed

Just saying, for that "it's not that much money" at 1:41 , you can have both iPhone 13 and AirPods Pro (AirPods 3 may be coming) or just AppleCare, more or less. It's always what's best for you, it's not "this phone now is perfect".

It's really not the perfect iPhone. A couple of examples, 1. No type c = super slow data transfer rate in comparison 2. Heavy phone, but if you work out and don't mind the weight, you get better battery life so it might be a plus for some people. 3. Only thing that changed with cameras is low light capability which isn't that big of a deal honestly. 4. Pro res is for the 1% of people who own an iPhone and use it as a professional camera. 5. Slow charging speed. I mean come on. My Huawei charges at 40w which launched in 2018. I don't expect iPhones to charge at the fastest speeds but at least 25w as the baseline should be mandatory with the bigger batteries being used. There you go, top 5 reasons the iPhone 13 isn't perfect. There are more but f writing anymore

The only thing about the iphone 13 Pro and Pro Max is that, if you get the 128gb models you will not be able to use the Pro Rez option when it comes out. You need the 256GB and above!

Hi! I have a question! Since Apple is allowing prores only for pro models with 256gb. That would mean that Prores require faster "ssd" would that inturn mean that the 128gb model has slower memory than the pro version? Because that would mean that even if we don't use prores then the 256gb version would still be so worth getting over the 128gb version. Or am I overthinking this?

A way to sideload apps.... is the only thing holding me back from just switching to iphone. I lived overseas and there are some apps that is region-locked and my account cannot access it, and sideloading helps with that situation. I already have Ipad Mini, and I'm already on iCloud and Apple Music so that thing is literally the only dealbreaker left on the table. Like, I already paid alot on Android flagship anyway since I don't want compromise. They better include it before the folding Android is good enough and I won't switch for like 5 years or so. I'm looking forward for foldables to be my next phone.

Im still hoping that Apple adds Pencile support to the iPhone at some point. I have a Note 20 Ultra for work and an 11 Pro for personal, and being able to notate an article for my dissertation is super convenient with my Note. Should Apple add that, as unlikely as it may be, I think they'll have the most comprehensive package when it comes to a phone. As always, love your content Austin 👍🏻

Here is my view on smart phones, they r improving a lot less slowly and I think it’s easy to notice, nowadays if you have iPhone X or iPhone 12 it isn’t worth upgrading to a newer iPhone because the improvements are so significant and if you know how to take care of your phone it will last you years because the build quality is outstanding. Don’t waste your money on things you don’t need because let’s face it, you already have what you need, the wants of a smoother display with a higher refresh rate really doesn’t justify the cost and neither does 5G because that’s just a gimic and totally unnecessary. Save your money, put it to the side in case a rainy day comes because if a rainy day comes and you wasted your money on new shoes, new phones, clothes, subscriptions etc it will not help you.

Apple's product upgrades year after year remind me of an unfinish art work that keeps getting a new coat of paint.

The one thing it's missing is usbc or expandable storage. If you get the 1Tb model and want to transfer a Tb of pro res footage to your PC, your only options are airdrop or iCloud (which will take over a week given transfer speed at 6ish MBps) or the USB 2.0 lightning port, which will take 5 hours (60MBps). That is horrendous. And they put usbc on the iPad without pro res...

Does the iphone 13 Pro have an always on display or an under screen finger print scanner yet?
