@Josh_2992
@Josh_2992 2 роки тому
@@oezibanana8664 I think it has something to do with the size of the sheets the screens are cut from. Under a certain size, and it's super wasteful. At least that's what I've heard.
@samuel5916
@samuel5916 2 роки тому
@@oezibanana8664 Economies of scale, the TV market is far larger than the gaming monitor market so that’s enabled them to get the prices down to reasonable levels. If they produced smaller panel sizes the volume just wouldn’t be there so they might actually cost more than the big TV panels ironically. That and the OLED issues Tim described for everyday use as a monitor. Burn-in and low brightness are just a necessary evil of OLED screens and can’t be fixed until Micro-LED replaces it.
@BangSkeeet
@BangSkeeet 2 роки тому
Not really. The Aorus 43" has sufficiently dark Blacks and very high peak brightness that make OLEDs look silly. Also OLEDs still have perma burn-in issue. The U8G 55" is peak 1200-1500nit HDR and its local dimming is excellent as well. No Halo/ABR, no issues with tracking or anything like that. OLEDs will be good once theyre able to break that 1200-2000nit SUSTAINED barrier. Until then, it's just a gimmick of turning off pixels which is only okay with very specific content and videos designed to show off oled. Virtually 0 content in the realworld require PERFECT/extremely dark blacks.

If that panel has the same or better properties as this one in the review, I will buy it either as a secondary monitor to my LG 34GK950F 1440p ultrawide or as a primary desktop monitor. I think that around a 38-42 inch OLED panel will be great for a multipurpose screen: gaming, productivity, consoles, movies, videos.

I see many people asking about desk setup, placement, and size. I have a pretty huge desk, Autonomous 70.5" x 30" XL, but I also work from home a lot and would not want to use the monitor as a main display, since I also use a 35" Ultrawide and 3 27" inch panels. (there are 2 PCs at play here) I had been looking for ideas and other people's setups with the C1 with multiple monitors, but couldn't find any examples. So I have decided to use the C1 on a separate desk to the right of the main setup. I have done this because the C1 will only be used to mainly for AAA gaming and other media consumption. When I got it, I wasn't sure how this was gonna work out but it's fine for now. I am leaning towards wall mounting it behind the main desk since the other 4 panels are on monitor arms and able to be swung around and out of the way when not used.

I agree that ABL is pretty annoying for desktop use. Fortunately, there's a relatively easy fix for that - you need to buy or rent a service remote for C1 (about $10 where I live) and turn off ABL (and the other setting that dims the panel after prolonged static image, forgot its name). Might mess with your warranty and accelerate burn-in, but boy does it feel much better when brightness stays where you've set it!

It's very interesting to see how OLED matches up quantitatively against LCD screens. For the same reason, would you consider testing some reasonably decent CRT monitor, just to see how it compares against other display technology, just for the science?
@hi_tech_reptiles

I think the issue is the fact that testing them is quite different and they arent posaible to get new anymore. I use CRT VGA monitors for various things, including some PC gaming and I will say overall my AOC is my fav for what its worth lol. Got it for like 10 bucks and it can do as high as like 170hz, more like 100hz at a good resolution. Which on a CRT looks even faster honestly.

I used to love my CRT TV's. Because they're all analog displays, the input lag is always a perfect 0. The picture's signal doesn't have to go through a processor. But they had pretty much capped out at 1080p, most being at 720p. And of course they were huge, and heavy.
@DirtyPoul
@DirtyPoul 2 роки тому
@@Druze_Tito Maybe not fluidity, but you'd certainly be better off competitively with a 360Hz display over CRT. At 100Hz, you "wait" 10ms between each refresh. 360Hz cuts that down to less than 3ms, more than making up for the increased response time and input lag that you find on elite high refresh monitors. It is far more expensive though.

I’ve had the C1 for a few weeks now and I have no regrets at all. I use mine for both gaming and productivity and find that the few downsides are actually minor when all factors are considered. The picture quality and sheer size of the display have me hooked. There’s no going back to LCDs for me. The review mentions that the display isn’t very bright and that almost scared me away. But the brightness is fine. The high contrast levels are surely helping with this. I have not once thought that the display was not bright enough. Colors really pop and wow…those black levels!! Amazing. After watching this review, I came very close to rejecting the C1 as my next monitor. So glad I decided to give it a try. I get a thrill every time I power up my system now.

Used the CX for 45 days for working (network engineering 8-10 hours a day). The display is absolutely incredible, and it’s unmatched by any pc monitor. But, I had burn in within that 45 days. I made some mistakes, sure (should have changed my background more often and moved my browser windows more often) but even with those mistakes, 45 days Is not a long time.. The next issue is the size. My desk is 30 inches deep and I had this mounted on a monitor arm (to get it as far away as possible) able to support its weight and the size and how close I was to the monitor began to bother me. Lowered oled light to around 30 and I still had an issue. Would get eye strain after some time and began getting headaches. I don’t think this happens for everyone honestly as I have seen online that people are unbothered by that. So take that for what it’s worth. The next is asbl, it can be turned off but I never did, and if you are using this for work, it’s annoying. Plain and simple. Sure you can turn it off but like I said, I had burn in within 45 days and asbl helps protect against that. (I could be wrong there if so, forgive me). That’s a few negatives. The positives are the picture and specifically the blacks. I’m still having a hard time getting use to my ips panels and the backlight bleed..man the picture is sooo good. I also disagree on the text, I had no problem with text clarity and imo it looked better than my ips panel (I have the lg32850 that was compared to the size of this tv in this video). At the end of the day, I miss it. I’m hopeful for gigabytes oled monitor but I just foresee problems with that as well. Really I would like to see a 43 inch oled monitor/tv. Btw i used the cx tv with a 3080 hdmi 2.1. I honestly had a hard time gaming on it sitting so close. I primarily play FPS though, other game types would be okay imo. If anyone has any questions about using this as a work monitor let m know I’ll try and answer as well as I can!

I've watched this before getting the C1 OLED and again after having it for several months now. I still agree that LCD monitors are the better desktop experience. While OLED has really great performance and image quality, the automatic dimming and enormous sizes (plus chance of burn-in) just doesn't justify OLED for desktop usage yet. I want to use a monitor without having to adjust the way I use it and dealing with the OLED safeguards in place. I still prefer using my 38" 144hz Nano IPS Ultrawide (AW3821DW) for both general usage/gaming over the C1 OLED, but the OLED is perfect for watching TV shows and movies on the couch.

Because the response time is so much faster than other monitors, you will notice stutter more, but it’s not caused by the display, it’s just that the display is so good, you see it more. @Axeiaa
@Axeiaa 2 роки тому
Making it smaller is actually hard to do, it's why we don't have OLED monitors (or more accurately very few and for very VERY high prices) - monitor sized OLED panels are hard to do. However; leaving out a whole bunch of this TV specific software that can require somewhat expensive chips (like video decoding, content recognition, running WebOS, AI upscaling etc) could knock some off the price. They could also as Steve sort of suggests make it curved to better suited for sitting closer to it (like at a desk). A monitor like this with as little 'smart' technology so keep input latency to a minimum would be great. Even by reducing the amount of costly parts any other changes (like making it curved) might still make it end up somewhat similarly priced however due to economy of scale (easier to sell millions of high-end TVs than pricy niche monitors).

They couldn't fathom an atom setup, even though it was obvious, and had been used before in other setups, just not in a 1U server chassis. The other Issue is very Minor: Sometimes when a dark, but not Black color is displayed there MIGHT be vertical lines visible.
