I did watch the series "behind enemy lines" and was so disappointed, despite everyone saying it's the best movie. The Liberation series has lower budget, but the movie is pure realism without the blood. When captive is shot, I could feel the fear of death. Liberation movies are realist showing action exactly the way it happened, with tank crews fighting against each other at the river for example. Only limitation is war damage on vehicle, of course they could not damage tank reliques. Thank you for NO SWEARING in these vintage movies.

@broksholk4771
@broksholk4771 2 роки тому
@@billearnshaw1074 I can’t make a definitive statement on that, as I’m not from the region - but from what I understand, NATO is something of a mixed bag in the area. Belarus in particular is much more aligned with Russia, to the point that some have been referring to it as a Russian puppet state. I’m not certain if that’s accurate or not, but I do believe that the current leader of Belarus is something of a would-be dictator. The Baltic states, on the other hand, are all NATO members, although this is primarily due to fears of Russian aggression, which are somewhat tangible. Ukraine is another story, as Russian revanchism is certainly most directed toward this country, as it was probably the most prized region of the USSR - Ukraine is highly populated and a huge food producer, and also has untapped oil wells offshore. It’s not a NATO member, although it has drawn much closer to the alliance in recent years. Russia actually already holds quite a bit of Ukrainian territory today. In 2014, Ukraine was in the midst of a revolution, and Russia took this opportunity to “indirectly” invade parts of the country - specifically the Crimea, which is a peninsula on the Black Sea in the southernmost part of the country. Russia annexed this region after a likely rigged referendum, and also heavily aided pro-Russian rebel forces in the east of the country. The state of the region today is definitely looking precarious for Ukraine in particular, as considering their close ties to Belarus and occupation of Crimea Russia essentially surrounds Ukraine on three sides. Whether or not Putin would actually pull the trigger on a full invasion, I really can’t say - in the past his modus operandi has favored backing “independent” pro-Russian forces in other nations rather than declaring full scale war, but Russia has also mobilized quite a lot of troops to the Ukrainian border, and that costs a lot of money to do, so there’s probably a reason. It could just be posturing, but in my personal opinion the situation seems pretty volatile. NATO’s been building up some forces in the region, which could either defuse or escalate the crisis, it’s honestly hard to say; Russia’s foreign policy is largely based around being unpredictable, so that their rivals can’t prepare as easily to counter their next move.

A little wrong. )) In reality, many "German" tanks in mass scenes are modern, only sheathed with plywood and painted. It makes no sense to keep so many real tanks of that time. If you look closely, you can even sometimes see undisguised modern tanks in the massive battle scenes. )) We must remember that these are real shots, not computer graphics. In addition, in reality, very few early T-34s remained, because their production was discontinued during the war years, and replaced by the T-34-85, and no one tried to save them. Therefore, very often we can see the T-34-85 even in films about 1941-42-43 (we see them here too), although their mass production and entry into the troops began later than the Battle of Kursk. Because these tanks simply remained in good quantities, and the early T-34s did not. And disguising other tanks as early T-34s is impossible because it had a smaller turret.

That SS Panzerdivision General who comes back at the end of the film to tell Manstein his whole division was annihilated looks a lot like Feldmarschall Paulus commander of the 6th Army. He would have been a perfect cast to play as the marshall. And what a wonderful production and depiction of the battlefield despite the obvious historical inaccuracies. Great movie.

this movie is in fact more reenacted historical record ( which obviously can be high entertainment as reactions to it makes clear, especially to a population that actually experienced war at 1st hand destroying 80% of german military at great sacrifice) than superficial entertainment . generally russians made much better movies than current hollywood. while there is some propaganda, their war movies from 50s on are more realistic than absurdly false hollywood propaganda like "saving private ryan" "patton" etc.

Outside of that weird and I inexplicable interlude at 1:02 with the cut away to Churchill and then the Balkans, it was an excellent film. And the video quality, given it was a 1970 film, is extraordinary. Hollywood could learn a thing or two from Mosfilm’s restoration program. Quite remarkable, what they did here.

That was genuinely impressive. It really gave the viewer an impression of the massive scale of the fighting around Kursk. It was, however, a little disconcerting seeing Cromwells decked out in German livery playing the part of panzers, but then I suppose authentic German armour was difficult to come by. ; ) Looking forward to watching part two. 👍

The best likeness of Mr Schicklgruber I have ever seen. The film is much better than than Hollywood's trash of today. I can never understand why the Russians never made a film about the Battle of Borodino 1812. They only did so only as part of their colossal and epic movie War and Peace. I hope some Russian film director is reading this message. Maybe Sergei Bondachuck's son ?
