ECUADOR IS A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY, NO WONDER MANY AMERICANS ARE LIVING THERE, thanks guys
@MrMathieu2111 років тому
No need to worry, Ecuador is pretty safe in my opinion, I'm Ecuadorian and French and I lived in Cuenca, Ecuador my entire life and nothing has happened to me personally. Ecuador is a beautiful country with so much diversity despite it's small geographical size.. you have nothing to worry about, come visit us and I hope you enjoy your stay.

It's a shame how all of you write negative comments about this video. I'm sure you haven't visited this country and you are already judging it. I was very against going to Ecuador with my family, but I ended up enjoying it. I love the tranquility. I've to several western European countries, but it not the same experience. It all depends about what you are looking for. I was told so many negative things about Latin American countries that I was scared. They were wrong. Ecuador it's nice.

Debe tranquilizarse, mi amigo. Estaba honesto. I really DO think it's priceless y me encata leer sobre estas entrevistas. Me dan esperanza.

Cuenca is a BEAUTIFUL city! I have been there many times, and to be honest i think is one the most stunning city in Ecuador. You can live WAY better that in any other European or American city, with 1/5 of the money.... Food, rent, transportation, health, etc, is very reasonably priced
@simbaliontari528712 років тому
lol I'm an American and I'm going to visit Ecuador next year... to be honest I was a little hesitant at first, seeing as Ecuador shares a border with Columbia, but my aunt and uncle convinced me it is very safe and beautiful there. You probably won't know them... they do alot of charity work in Ecuador. My Uncles name is Armando, and he is from around Correa

You don't need to learn the language if you don't want to. Love Ecuador. Love Cuenca! They just explained all. And if you want to go from Cuenca to the beach, well I think it is like 6 hours and you have a beach ready for you to enjoy whole year round.

I love cuenca great video, keep it up...

By the way, when I mentioned Correa, I meant President Correa of Ecuador

@slugo4449 I'm originally from Cuenca but I made my life in NYC. I haven't heard yet of mature american people who had problems acclimating in Cuenca, not regarding to the elevation. Temperature in Cuenca is 50-60F (chilly during the nights), rarely temperature decreases until 45F or up to 65F, it's like spring the whole year, sky is semi-clowdy most of the time.
@MrMathieu2111 років тому
I know what you mean my friend, I myself am Ecuadorian/French and was born and grew up in Cuenca, Ecuador and your right it's a peaceful country it's so dynamic, I love my home country. I've been to my other motherland France but it's not the same. I love it soo much more in Ecuador. Ecuador beats France anyday haha

@drand11 ... health care in Ecuador is cheap, and they have one of the best selection of doctors and specialists availiable. Without Insurance, a doctor's visit would be about $30. National Insurances are available if you feel you will be visiting the doctor more often. So you can do either depending on how often you normally visit the doctor. They accept major credit cards as well.

Sounds wonderful. How do you feel about being so far away from family? How often do you come back to the States?
@morenaso110 років тому
We have that all the time in South Florida. Many foreigners come her and don't learn English. I agree with you though
@dennistedder338411 років тому
Why hasn't the gentleman learned the rest of the city? It's only a mile wide (20 minutes if you walk slowly) and less than 1/2 mile top to bottom. Just curious if I understood him correctly.
@Justicexhaze12 років тому
@1karlosqnk where did you move to?
@Justicexhaze12 років тому
I was thinking of moving there. Crohn's disease has put me on disability so I was looking for places I could enjoy and afford to live. Currently in FL and I like it but not sure I can afford it long term. Just scarred to make the leap into the unknown...I mean...just fly in and say "take me to a place I can rent" ? You know how change can be..my checks are automatically deposited...would I need to change banks? I am only 45 and just want to enjoy the rest of my life in peace but just scarred.

Moving there is not a problem, and even getting residence should be doable with some legal help. Here's the thing: Don't go to Ecuador expecting that it will be like living in an inexpensive suburb of the US. It's a completely independent & sovereign country with its own culture. You need to be prepared for culture shock. It's best to do a trial run for a few weeks or months before making any commitments.
@tessyann110 років тому
Can you tell me how and with who did you apply for a second passport? My husband and I are considering moving there? Thank you!

Hi, I am an native from Otavalo(an indigenous town and city on the north of Ecuador, full of customs, culture and music), And if you want someone to guide you, while you visit here, let me know my friend, I speak English(no too excelent) but I enjoy to share with people our way to live, doing little trips around the towns and showing and living a full experience. PD: I do not work for any agencie. jhon5eddy@hotmail.com...I am working by myself on the beggining of this, the agencies are actually too expensive.

Most likely U will be all-right, have no fear. I am American, but come from Hispanic backgroud and my wife is Colombian. I worked for the Gov in South America and never experienced any problems whatsoever. I was in Venezuela for 5 yrs, and way more dangerous than Colombia and Eucador put together. But even though Venezuela was dangerous, I had fun and almost married a lovely Venezuelan lady in Maracaibo. Danger is everywhere, in fact I think its more dangerous in the US. My thoughts
@DeokHyoPark12 років тому
yes i experienced firsthand and i am young asian american stayed in philippines. got the foreigner tax everywhere i went lol, its not safe. you'll need deep income to hire guards live in gated house. i'm positive foreigners gets targeted even in Ecuador. its rare not to get robbed/killed places like this.

I have been strongly considering a long term plan to move to Ecuador for a while. I've been scared to try it because I do have a few concerns from the few bad things I have heard from a few people I'd like to know from some people who live in the country. Even if what you say is the same as another person, or even in this video, please give me your personal experiences because I am looking for reasons to leave the United States for a country that is more free. #1 -- How cheap is the cost of living REALLY? Is this cost the same for foreigners as it is for locals? #2 -- What do they think of foreigners, really? I hear they are the most welcoming country in Latin/South America when it comes to newcomers, but is this true? One negative thing I heard is that only people who are there to sell you something are friendly. That, I"m sure, is a subjective analysis from the video I watched on that, so what are your experiences? #3 -- What conveniences will I lose if I move to Ecuador? I heard that a lot of people do their laundry by hand there and that Washer/Dryer hookups aren't in every home. How true is this? If it is true, then what other conveniences that I take for granted am I going to lose? #4 -- How safe is it? Have you encountered any burglars? What part of the city do you live in and have experience in with this? #5 -- Cuenca looks beautiful and like it has all of the assets for those with high and low standards of living, but how are the other cities? Do they offer similar experiences? I heard that the coastlines are tourist traps. Is this true? (Kind of expected that it would be considering they are here in the US as well). #6 -- How good, on a scale from 1 to 5 does your Spanish have to be? I've heard very wide variations from this video (very little), to a huge language barrier. Give me something I can get a grip around in terms of how much Spanish I would need to know and what specifically I would have to speak. #7 -- Moving to another country is, as the poster of this video pointed out, a huge step, as I would be moving into another person's culture. I'd like to know two things about this, but know this about me. -What differences are going to throw me for a loop in terms of what I expect versus what I'm going to get? That is, what are the things that I can never even think about that are gonna change when moving from here to there? I'm sure there are a few things that an American won't find out until they're there. -What is going to draw one into the country from the US, in your experience? I've had problems with law enforcement in this country always hounding me when I walk, as I do not drive. Is the country much more free than the US? Is the economy going in a positive direction from all of the tourism? Give me some reasons to want to move there.
@subnetme10 років тому
"What do they think of foreigners, really?" They like foreigners but not racists and zealots. So you wouldn't fit.

Eddy Andrango Thank you. Yes, I have done research and know to avoid the agencies and coastal towns, as I believe there's a lot of scammers (so I hear), but I'll definitely keep it in mind if I ever get down there.

@jdh91741 Yea, it's totally exaggerated, Its all about greedy real estate companies, tell people its so cheap and when you finally get here, the so called gringo realtors shows you homes and double the price.
@1YuriC12 років тому
Sorry about your bad experience. You are comparing 2 total different countries with a very different social view. There are no "foreigner" taxes in Ecuador and most people, just like in the U.S, gated communities are places for people who really do need it like. Others are just in there to make themselves feel important or are just paranoid. Everyone with money is targeted anywhere, but the police and the people is serious about this.
@jerseygrl512 років тому
Kentucky Fried Chicken and Burger King?!?!?! NOT selling points for me.
@puttytat0079 років тому
Prices are going up because unfortunately people from other countries find it cheaper so they pay what ever they are asked, driving up prices for locals. Imbabura was full of indigenous people no you only see them on Market day. I wish my country would have never been discovered. :(

Why do you not allow people to follow or be your friend on your page? This way you can be contacted very easily. I'm from Guayaquil and my father was born in Riobamba.

Thank you for your suggestion, you can find me on FB facebook.com/MIPROPIOCIELO5 or email jhon5eddy@gmail.com. First of all it's too way different countries in two different continents with different cultures, learn how to separate apples from oranges dude.. I lived in Cuenca, Ecuador my entire life I WAS BORN HERE, RAISED AND PROBABLY DIE HERE.. I love my country and nothing of what you have mentioned has happened to me, by the way I'm Ecuadorian and French and la sierra is the riches part of the country economically and culturely.. you know nothing!
@DeokHyoPark12 років тому
i'm stating the facts from personal experiences. Most of the ones who are retiring in places like ecuador are fairly wealthy from pensions, most are gringos. they're the ones who's making the prices go up lol. philiipines is not ecuador but ecuador is not u.s. i would say 2nd world country.
@robertpowell8607 років тому

Why would you move to a country and not learn the language?
@1YuriC12 років тому
Another one who states an opinion without knowing how things operate in those countries. I guess Hollywood really got you hooked. Sick, Sick!!!
@1YuriC12 років тому
Your own words let me know how little you know about anything. You are talking about topics you have no knowledge whatsoever. Dr. Mangele was NEVER in Ecuador. He was Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil. He was never in Ecuador. Get the correct facts. One thing you are right about is Prague and Warsaw, not Tucson. Yet again, Prague and Warsaw will not offer the same experience Cuenca has to offer.

Reasons NOT to go. UGH! The worst of American culture.
