She also believes that the women in a way are more "free" than women in Western countries because they don't have to work to live/survive; a man (partner or father) is religiously and culturally expected to make the money and get the necessities for survival. And finally, she speculates that those (especially in Western countries) who are against Taliban's views and laws on women are Islamophobic to some degree, and that they criticize Taliban's violent acts as a sort of pretext to criticize Islam. @@macck4350 most Afghans will probably agree that Zahir Shahs and Daud Khan's time was probably the golden age of modern Afghan history. Not that it didn't have a lot of issues, especially in the country side. However the urban areas, especially Kabul had a relatively high standard of living.
