Death Row: Indiana State Prison (Crime Documentary) | Real Stories
This two-part series sees veteran presenter Sir Trevor McDonald come face to face with some of the world’s most dangerous criminals as he gets exclusive access to one of America’s oldest and most notorious prisons.
Housing 1900 inmates, 12 of whom are on death row, Trevor spends two weeks in the dark and forbidding world of Indiana State Maximum Security Prison. He hears from men who know what it is like to live under the shadow of the death penalty and even the date and time they will die.

Its so weird, to listen to these inmates talk, to almost feel compassion for them, and then to think about the crimes they committed. Where does one draw the line in simple human compassion? What a strange paradox.

Because monsters do not exist and no one person is ALL evil. What they have done is unforgivable but it does not mean that they do not have any Good sides in them as well. Hard to comprehend since many of us want to put individuals in a box with a lable on it. People are more complex than that. Even those Who do unspeakable things. Reflect on that. More should in my opinion.
@paxsmile
@paxsmile 4 роки тому
tamousha Unfortunately monsters do exist. Work in a prison and you’ll know that they do. Some people are just born that way and their environment only enhances what was already there. You’re right, there is good and bad in all of us, I guess the difference is the degree of good and bad we carry.

Hahahaha! Only God gets to draw that line. Even if you studied them for eternity you still wouldnt be able to figure it out. Me neither. US should make work camp prisons. That way they can lock people up for life without wasting tax payers money.

Look, everyone, life is complicated. There are people who are more weak to influence than others and more prone to violence than others. I struggle to believe anyone in this situation could be properly rehabilitated. Our prison system in the US is far from perfect. It looks like everyone is mostly trying to make the best of what they get. I don't want these people wandering the streets as they were when they committed their crime, but I really don't think we're doing anything for them to change them for the better. So many ex cons out of prison make an immediate attempt to get back in because life outside is so hard when you've been in for years or decades.

No, they manipulate lonely women out of their money. There is no "love"... but the lonely women can tell their friends/family "they have a man" when in reality they don't.... Then if you're so enlightened... please tell us dumb Americans what else it could be? What does a guy in prison (in the US), who will never see the light of day again, and will likely be killed by the state on a gurney at some point, have to offer a woman (in the UK)? Answer: Absolutely nothing. Like I said.. .this is all about insecure women and men behind bars who take advantage of them. Trust me, I've seen this a BUNCH of times... it's usually a woman who for whatever reason (usually self esteem issues) can't get a man on the outside, but wants to tell her friends "she has a man".... easy targets are these guys. They will give her 100% attention (so long as she gives them money), tell her how wonderful she is, how pretty she is, etc... despite the fact it's quite possible she will never even hold hands with him. Now, she can tell her friends she "has a man"... forget the fact he is in prison and she's never so much as kissed him (most death row visits in Indiana are no contact).

I've been asking myself that same question for a very long time. You never know what's on other person's mind, even someone close to you. Most of these dudes were not born like that. Something made them that way. You think 90% of people who saw combat and killed ever thought they would be capable of taking a life? Probably not. Than it became just every day thing to them. PTSD during war or childhood. Guys were abused as kids probably also think violence is normal. Or course there is mental health, drugs, broken families, influence by older "role models" etc... There is a saying back in the old country - another man's soul is like a dark room. You never know what in it. P.S I'm not defending murderers and sadists or anything. They did the crime and have to receive punishment.

We had drug prevention classes but they probably wouldn’t be as effective as making students watch sad tragic documentaries like this. 50-80 years is a long long time, and a lot of people don’t realize that until it’s too late. That would be terrible being locked up and on death row. The person doing the interview is at his best. Great presentation thanks........

The story of that one inmate that had to be there at the age of 13... I am not by any means a professional in the criminal justice institution but It looks like he went through great rehabilitation already and maybe his freedom got to taking under a consideration. ( He sounded and moved like a robot made out of this system, said and did everything by the book) I truly felt through this outstanding interaction with this world the meaning of freedom, although it seemed they were being treated fairly with all the programs , the officers behaviors toward them was good, their environmental conditions are good. Sending my thanks to Sir Trevor and his crew for such great work 🙏.

I did 3 years in prison.. Prison literally saved my life, because now I know how precious every day of freedom really is. Watching these videos reminds me yet again how incredibly lucky I am to be home again. Edit: Just hit 5 years of sobriety! Got married in January, bought my first home and my first kid was born in August. Things have moved fast! I thank all of you for your kind words and support on this thread.. It means the world to hear 🤘

On death row … and the others that followed with Wener Herzog is also (I think even better) than this one. That said this one is very insightful.
