Lija Fisher writes funny adventure novels for 8-12 year olds. Her debut novel, THE CRYPTID CATCHER (Farrar, Straus & Giroux), received a starred review from Booklist and was a Junior Library Guild selection. The follow up novel, THE CRYPTID KEEPER, was a finalist for the Colorado Book Award in juvenile literature. She travels the country getting kids interested in reading through exploring cryptozoology, or the study of legendary animals that might be real like the Loch Ness Monster. She lives in Colorado near several Bigfoot sightings.

Great story, well told. I have also been a huge fan of L.O.T.R. and the Hobbit since I as a child. And have spoken at Bigfoot conferences. But, I have been a field and archive researcher since the late 70's and spent hundreds of nights camping in their territories. AND got a lot of them on video...and, they aren't monsters. HOWEVER, there ARE monsters out there.

I really hate when people demonize them and shoot at them. Unlike a yeti, they are pretty laid back. Despite the fact they have paranormal abilities, they can be child like and have the full range of emotions including territorial attachments and possessiveness. BuckeyeBigfoot ran a story about this down syndrome kid who befriended a bigfoot family. It was like an anthropological study on a bigfoot family. The testosterone laden male was an abuser like some human husbands/fathers. The female was very kind and loving and nurturing and too abuse from her mate so she had to learn to stand up to him. They are alot like us, just more child like. Yep, yetis, dogmen, crawlers etc are just plain vicious!! Unfortunately they are out there too! All that info suppressed by the government!

Unlike fictional stories, Sasquatch is not an animal, or an unknown primate, & it is an actual fact that they do exist on some level as what appears to be a kind human hybrid from what can be learned so far, & still being researched, although a lot of people do get their kicks out of mocking the subject, & create their fake encounters, & tracks, messing around, & making fun of the topic. Those who’ve actually had a real encounter with one, say it’s no laughing matter when they realize the truth, & when that intense fear gripped them, when they realized they were outclassed in every way.

@@isrt8955 Right. I saw the video someone took in a tunnel of what appeared to be some type of possible pulsating worm hole, similar to that seen on the TV show Stargate. We most definitely have been kept from a lot of information going on around our world! My own experiences, I’ve seen one Ghost (demonic spirit), three UFO’S, the last, being the most disturbing. Pretty sure we heard a Sasquatch in the woods at night while camping, & the mosquitoes were awful, while my typically aggressive black lab cowered, after hearing a low tone wooooo, similar to someone blowing over a jug, but a way lower pitch. An avid outdoorsman, I know my animal & bird sounds pretty well, & that was nothing I’d ever heard before. I have two powered parachutes. One, a single seat 100hp fixer upper, that was sitting in a shed for over 10 years, & the second, a Six Chuter, two seater, I’m working on putting dual controls on, so I can train to fly it soon. To see that machine, look up, powered parachute in Little Falls, MN. That was its last flight before we bought it. If you ever find yourself boxed in, learn to do the hammer head, & turn around in place. Maneuver that could save a lot of pilots.

Aaaaw my mom used to read The Hobbit to me also. It was a very good book and I love how my mom used to read it to me. I would lie there in bed and closed my eyes and visualize like tiny little movie going on in my head and it was very relaxing and in no time at all I would drift off having the most wonderful dreams. That is one of my favorite memories later in life after I had my children she also read The Hobbit to them. My baby's mama and I were separated when my kids were very little so I would have them on the weekends and usually on a Saturday night my mom would come over to see the kids and me and at bedtime she would take him to the back room get them both all tucked in and start reading from The Hobbit and I could sit in the living room in my favorite chair and close my eyes and it would take me back to when I was my kids age and once again I would drift off to sleep in my favorite chair listening to my mother's voice reading to my. Those were the best thank you for reminding me of that

I am a South African man living in Motherwell, Scotland, UK. I am 43 years old and I have been living in the UK for 19 years now. I moved here in September of 2004. Now I never really believed in cryptids. In fact being brought up as a logical minded man. I was always told to believe that you only believe in a creature's existence when it has been catalogued and it's DNA is on record. In 2004 I moved to the UK and at that time I was living in a town north of Liverpool called Southport. It is in Merseyside in the north western part of England. It is the usual sleepy English seaside town. Several weeks after I had moved there, round about Christmas time, me and a bunch of my friends decided to go visit a forest area in the countryside nearby a town called Formby which is also just north of Liverpool. Now the Christmas time of year is very cold, grey and bleak. So when we arrived at the forest and got out of our cars and walked about a bit in this forest, it looked very eerie, like something out of one of those old Dracula movies or out of a Bram Stoker story. Not long after arriving there began this weird howling noise, it gave me the creeps. My friends told me to not worry about it, it was probably just the wind. But that did not feel right for me. So I looked at the tree tops. And they were not swaying about at all. I pointed this out to them but they told me not to worry about it anyway. Things is I just felt like something was not right. Anyway this weird howling sound continued. And then the sounds started to become like a primates grunt. Really deep and guttural like that of a great African ape. I could not believe it. Here I was in frigid England, in the middle of a forest hearing these ape like sounds. I started getting twitchy now. I had not seen anything but I was sure this was something animalistic and not some natural element. So in this bunch of friends, there was this fellow South African. I said to him " Hermann (his name is Hermann) does this not sound like apes or monkeys to you. You know like the ones back home in Africa". He listened for a while. Then he said " Yes you are right. That is exactly like the monkeys and apes in Africa would sound like". With an absolute look of bewilderment on his face. Our friends then started to laugh and say that the monkeys had followed us from Africa. And as they were laughing there was was this loud howling bellowing scream which seemed to fill the heavens, the forest, the ground, the trees and our very bodies. It sounded like a combination of the roar of a lion combines with the the scream of a gorilla. Needless to say they stopped there laughter and we all got out of there as quickly as possible. We drove out of that forest pretty much at top speed and spent the rest of the day at the dunes nearby Formby where we new there would be more people and we would feel safer. Well it has been many years since that happened and I landed up moving about until I settled in Motherwell, Scotland, UK. And even though I never saw anything physical that day it must have been something animal or cryptid to have made such a terrible sound. It is a sound I never heard before and I have never heard it since. But if I did hear it again I would instantly recognise it. Since then I have become more open to believing that cryptids or animals or whatever you want to call it may exist but that does not necessarily mean I always believe every story. I am also thankfully for your channel and the work you do because I have not told many people my story since it happened but when I do I just get the old nod and roll of the eyes like to say "ok crazy". And the thing is that I did not see an animal or cryptid, I just heard sounds. So I can only imagine how much worst the treatment must be if you heard a sound and saw a cryptid. Also now I am inclined to believe that there is much more to nature than we know about and that governments know but they are not telling us about it.

ma'am i feel your heats in the right place, but i strongly implore you to do some extensive research on these beings. youll find a few encounters where they help people but most accounts are nothing like that at all. These beings can be very territorial and aggresive. native americans have hundreds or more stories of these beings not being loveable to humans. so please dont give the children the wrong impression because you could very possibly get a child or children hurt one day if they take interest in bigfoot and decide to go "squatchin" and they happen to run across something that the thought was warm n cuddly because of a book of yours they read and there expierence turns out to be very traumatic.

In the meantime, I had a big foot experience when I was kid, but it was long before I knew anything about them. My goal is to develop this amazing experience into a book myself. I became interested in Sasquatch when I was around 10 or so when I found a book in my school's library about cryptids ( The Maybe Monsters by Gardner Soule ) As I grew older I decided to become more of a "hands on researcher" (for lack of a better term). After 3 encounters I quickly learned more then I wanted. I haven't read your books so it's impossible for me to praise or condemn them. I just sincerely hope that through your writing, while peaking children's interest on the subject, you stress that these creatures are NOT warm and cuddly. They can be deadly dangerous. (as can nearly all wild animals ) Far too many encounters are met with ridicule once the person's story is told and more often then not the witness suffers prolonged bouts of ptsd. Don't scare the kids... Just be honest.

@isrt8955 3 роки тому
@@michaeltenn983 Yes I have, as I used it as a case study about Bigfoot habituation behavior. The Siege of Honobia is about a pod of Bigfoot harassing a family who lived remotely in Honobia, Ok. back in JAN of 2000. They planted snow peas to attract deer to their property. The family then hunted the deer as a food source mostly by spotlighting at night, which is not cool. The Bigfoot were coming around the house mostly at night, attacking the house with rocks, banging on windows and doors, screaming and yelling, stealing deer meat from the freezer, damaging property, and just in general raising Hell. Law enforcement did absolutely nothing to help. But there was a lot that the family could have done to rectify that behavior.
