My favorite annoyance in this career is sometimes the person you have to arrest is a raging werewolf. so you cant arrest them.

My favorite bug happened a long time ago. I found the suspect, arrested them, and when I went back to the Police Station, the suspect was gone. I couldn't lock them up, or interrogate them, or anything. They were gone. I kept issuing APB after APB, but the suspect would always disappear at the station. I finally figured out what was happening: the game had randomly assigned the police chief as the criminal. At the crime scene, the Sim was the criminal, but back at the station, they were the chief.

It’s funny how we have a detective career but no robbers or actual evil sims

The biggest problem is suspects having cold and hot weather wear so they don't actually wear the clothes theyre supposed to in the APB...😅

There’s a specific interaction with the chief called “talk to chief”that’s marked with the badge. You have to do that interaction for it to mark off that you talked to the chief. My biggest issue is that my chief doesn’t come into the building anymore. He spawns way down the road and never leaves, so I have to run way off the lot to talk to him lol

the police chief constantly being naked/showering outside made me weak, like im pretty sure thats work place harassment, but also, being the sims its insanely funny

The detective career is actually probably my favorite out of the three. I love looking for suspects based on clues. The doctor and scientist one feel more repetitive, plus you run out of time because you have to keep walking in those huuuge lots. The only downside is the constant loading screens in this one.

We need an opposing burglar career. I was hoping that was gonna be our hot update, since stolen items can be refered to as "hot"

I've played this career many times. A trick when you get the "go on patrol" requirement is to go on patrol, then go straight back to headquarters. You'll immediately be given other tasks, and not have to worry about going on patrol. (Which, as you've noticed, is really bugged.) Also, when gathering evidence, always gather much more evidence than they request you to get. The more clues you have, the easier it is to catch the suspect. The problem with the clothing clues is that they don't take account of weather; the clues always reference everyday clothing. You may have to use MCCC dresser to force anyone you encounter to wear their everyday outfit, to make sure you have the right suspect. Or just get enough clues that you'll get multiple references for hair and eye color.

It’s not the sims without bugs!! They’ve just become life at this point!

I've never actually had a problem with the patrols. I don't know how it's working fine for me, but it is. Usually it's the sims that spawn with me that immediately start fighting or cursing at me, so it's a matter of like two minutes and I'm back at the station. The only bug for me is probably the chief, because the task that tells me to talk to them never completes. But that's such a minor thing I don't really mind.

What would be cool and needed is them going back and re-doing old packs, similar to the pack refresh (that inexplicably happened once and never again) but the focus is on making the packs and its features work as intended. Pause releasing new content, or most likely release kits alongside these "refreshes" so that the team's energy can be focused entirely on fixing what doesn't work and improving what does.

I recently played the Detective Career and my Sim retired as chief of police. Her wife was a global superstar author who wrote a book called My Wife The Cop. Loved arresting Sims so much fun. Also a number of police officer Sims showered in the rain almost every Sim day. Madness but hugely entertaing

I was just playing the detective career and "the talk to the chief" interaction was somethig that got me stumped too, but if you go through the different interactions you can do, you will find one that says "talk to Chief" or something like that with a little icon next to it. 16:55

I always thought the police station and the hospital should be base-game locations, based in the base-game world. Like, it should be where the park is in WIllow creek.

As someone who kinda likes this career here's what you can think about next time: 1:"Talk to the chief" is an interaction. There's a specific interaction you have to choose. 2: On patrol you have to remove yourself from the conversation for them to get into a fight or litter. I agree that patrol is annoying though. It is! 3: The suspects description is in everyday clothes so they can look different if they're in another season. 4: Why do people shower in the rain at the station?! Happens to me all the time too. 😂😂

'Talk to the chief' is a specific interaction. It really needs to pop up on the main screen when you click on them though because it took me days to find!

When it comes to talking to the chief, there is an actual "Talk to Chief" interaction :)

When I played peach generation I realized the apb described their everyday outfit and not necessarily what they were even wearing and it took me literally days to understand how to the interrogations

Kelsey recently did the detective career for peach gen and it seemed okay. James Turner was also doing a test run with it on his members only channel and it seemed OK except when he cheated to jump levels. Not sure if they used any unusual mods. I haven't tried it recently. I know when I did you shouldn't really jump around... but that was before the fears were added.

I have literally NEVER played this career. It still has the star next to it whenever my sims go to get a job… and I’ve had Get To Work for four years now.

From my current experience, the doctor career literally demand a high logic skill. It's required to make some correct diagnostic of the patients. In the detective career, you can get yourself on ANY lot from ANY world. Here again, a high logic skill is of GREAT help. The use those analysis apparatus is based on your logic skill : High logic skill = better result, often in less time. So, get yourself a chess table, a telescope or a microscope ASAP. Also, get a library and buy the three books about logic and studiously read them. Get one of those wall trash chute. They cost §0 each. Bonus, you never need to empty them and they can't get knocked over.

bro i love just spawning in a place as a detective and pausing and scouring the entire area and running up to one of the first people i see who fit the description because it’s usually almost always them💀

The way you get the credit for talking to the chief is: You go under friendly, small chat, and then it'll pop up as talk to the chief. For the interrogation of the suspects, the bar is good, you want to fill it and certain things work better depending on the sim. Some sims prefer evidence and the Good Cop, where others do better when you are a Bad Cop. Also, I found that having the perk where you learn all the sims traits as soon as you introduce yourself is super helpful.

Honestly I played with this career recently and it is kind of fun. The citations aren’t bugged you just have to look around for a little bit. You can be mean to angry sims and they’ll fight you and then you give them a citation for that. It is repetitive, but I think it’s very creative and interesting compared to the other active careers since you do actually visit different lots throughout your day.

One more thing: if this ever gets a pack refresh, I hope they actually include the police in game. Sims can call the police on one another, you can call the police on sims. If they don't want to do guns since its to violent, they can use tasers or batons to wrestle sims or arrest them. You can be arrested if you do something bad. If you don't have enough simoleons to pay bail, then they have to stay in there for a certain amount of days. Depending on which season they can miss things like Winterfest or Harvestfest and it can impact your Sims negatively. I think that can be fun for gameplay.

This is such a coincidence! I just recently, like this month, went back and replayed the detective career. One of the people I had to arrest was another detective so I couldn’t arrest her!! Thank god for mcc because I had to make her quit so I could do my task or whatever 😭 but somehow not as buggy as I thought it would be

I’ve literally never played this career despite it being the first option in the “Find A Job” catalog. I hope one day they do a refresh of this and the other packs (like pre-seasons) because it could really be so good and I’d love to see how they would breathe fresh life into it

I think the detective career is my favorite of the active careers. I’ve done it several times. For talk to chief, there’s actually a social named exactly that so only using that option will tick off that task. I think interrogating ticks off when you get the confession from the suspect so once it’s give you the they’re guilty pop up, use the get confession social. Going on patrol is hit and miss for me. I’ve definitely had it work more than not.

The police career is actually my favorite of the get to work jobs. It just isn't intuitive, like when it tells you to go on patrol, just go and then immediately return to the station for other things to do, you still get the points. You also don' have to remember the clues as they are in your notebook. Also until they added more traits having the observant trait made it easier to find people as seasons allows them to change out of their base clothes so those clues don't help.

This is the career that would really, really benefit from open world. All the load screens kill it.

I actually personally love the detective stuff, being I love that aspect of things I actually enjoy it more than the doctor stuff, I love the more hands-on nature of it rather than the beginning of the doctor career where every single thing you have to pass off to someone else till you get promoted like three or four times.

I'm surprised to see all the glitches you got, since I only ever had one issue when playing through the career. If the weather was hot or cold the suspect would be wearing clothes that arent matching their apb. Thankfully I was in the not so berry legacy so I had the upgraded simray on me. Triplespeed does cause sims to stop functioning correctly for me, and it was really bad for this career, especially on patrol.

I’m pretty sure you can ask other sims about the suspect and they’ll often point you in the right direction. Idk why the game doesn’t tell you that and expects you to work it out.🤷🏽‍♀️

i've never played the detective career because i simply refuse to let any of my sims be a cop. maybe some day i will make one with really no moral values to make them a cop

I would love to see one on the scientist career. I recently discovered that the tainted version of the Rose Perfume serum from that career can cause sims to light themselves on fire.

I have get to work, had it for years and yet, NEVER played this career. This is all new to me.😂

I love the detective career! I don’t think I experienced these glitches but it’s been a bit since I’ve played. What’s interesting to consider, though, is this pack predated seasons. So when it says the suspect is wearing shorts, it may change depending on the season and outfit the sim has for the season.

i just used the detective career for the first time not to long ago and it wasnt the best i traveled to my lot and was trying to identify my criminal and it was snowing so everyone was in their wintertime clothing so to find the criminal i had to mc command them into evryday and it took me a sec so in that time period i found the criminal but the other sims since i changed them out of their cold waether fits started droppin like flies and dying from freezing lol but i finished the case

Info for if all PCs are occupied: I'm pretty sure that as soon as you click on an occupied PC to do something, the sim sitting in front of it will leave their seat. (I hope I wasn't imagining it the last time I played, it's been a while...)

The science career isn't too bad. The science lot is too spread out and would be good to rebuild

The "talk to chief" option is under "small talk". I've also never had problems with going on patrol. You can take pictures of every piece of evidence you collect. It speeds things up to just do both on every single item. Too bad you found it so difficult to navigate.

My head-canon is that Magnolia Prom is between Newcrest and Willow Creek and the city you can see in the background of Newcrest is San Myshuno. Oasis springs Is near Del Sol Valley, but Strangerville is somewhere else.

This is one of my favorite careers I’ve had a couple of my sims have had it’s a lot of fun! I enjoyed watching you play as well Kayla!

I played in this career recently. The sims don't actually match the clues when you do an APB to find them. So keep collecting clues until it you have more then 4 or 5 clues I believe. And when you go, there will be only one sim who can be arrested. But don't rely on identifying information given to you. I believe that the career is buggy at best. Like when lilsimsie went on patrol, the only way to give citations is after someone is done fighting. And even then, they don't always fight. You might have to return to the station and go back on patrol. And the game will tell you to get to know the citizens, don't. Especially if the sims look like they are arguing, back talking to them can cause them not to fight and they will delay the fighting, costing you time that you don't have to finish the day successfully.

I couldn't complete the detective career for Not So Berry cause every time I tried to interrogate a suspect the suspect and my sim would glitch right at the end of the interrogation and it would restart.... I had to cheat the case completes to reach the top of the career 🙃

On patrol if you keep walking around and don't let your sim be pulled into convo, the angry sims will start to fight each other. And I'm pretty sure "Talk to the Chief" is a specific interaction. Evidence photos are mostly graffiti and a lot of them are very small images. Asking about suspect will have other sims point towards the suspect, and the more data you gather before you issue an APB, the more details you will have on the suspect.

For the "talk to the chief" interaction there's a specific social marked with the detective badge. I didn't get it at first either, but if you hover your mouse over the job task it explains it

The APB thing is harder if you have seasons cause the description will be of their regular outfit but they could be in their hot or cold

There's a literal 'Talk to Chief' interaction. It's in the small talk category. I played this career last week with one of my gameplay save files and it worked great. Soon as I got to patrols the sims spawned and when I pressed play they waisted no time fighting each other, didn't even have to run toward them, my sim had a front row view lol. Only time it didn't work was when I forgot the npc roles mod file in my mods folder. The no random townies mod confused the game and made it hard for me to finish tasks with suspects since the game couldn't spawn them.

Kayla, the detective career doesn't really work, in my peach generation, every time I had to use the TOOL mod to place the boss and the criminals in the correct place, every time I arrived on the lot, the boss spawned very far from the police station and, worse, she was a celebrity.

me playing get to work police career for the first time ever since buying the pack two years ago 2 hours later Kayla uploads a tutorial basically but my game wasn't bugged at all!

If you keep watching one of those angry stomping people while on patrol, they will usually either start a fight or knock something over. I've never had it take longer than a few minutes for something to happen.

The father in my Sims family got fired from his job because of the option I chose on one of the career pop ups. So I made him become a detective. Unfortunately I wanted him to be in the business career because of his asperation but I decided to go with it instead of just making him reapply for the business career. I usually play the doctor career. I choose scientist the least out of the 3.

I actually really like the detective career. The retail part is the worst, so buggy and doesn’t work right, like employees don’t even show up

1. Patrol: Someone above said it could be an issue caused by NAP, which I can't speak to because I don't have that pack. But, in my experience, if I don't interact with the Sims on patrol, they will fight or litter faster. I just pop in, say nothing, then watch whichever Sim is angry. They will usually start a fight or kick over a trash can and then it's citation time. 2. Loading screens: Evidence can be used for any case. So if you go to a crime scene and question every witness, take every picture, gather every piece of evidence, and take it all back to the station, then analyze as many as you need to feel confident in your APB (I usually went for 5 or so clues, I always wanted age, gender, hair, and a trait because clothes could change with weather). Then after you finish with that case, get a new assignment and you can use the evidence you already gathered for the next one. Head straight for the analyzer or computer and process that evidence. I got to the point where I only had to leave the station every two or three cases. And once you've gotten a couple promotions, they don't ask you to go on patrol anymore. So that cuts your load screens down to just when you're going out to make an arrest.

I wish it would throw out an explanation or excuse for their crime. Like the lady that stole the toy was desperate bc her grandchild wanted for Christmas or something. Instead of it saying the suspect is guilty thing.

16:56 there is an interaction called "talk to chief" just like the "get to know" interaction, that's why it wasn't filling for you

When it says talk to the chief on the tasks there is a special option to talk to them in I think the friendly options so you can't just talk to the chief normally.

To talk to the chief of police, you have to click “friendly” and then “small talk” and then the “talk to chief” option will pop up 😊. Also if you don’t see clues, if you click the ground, the option to “search for clues” populated and then a clue will highlight in that area if it’s there 😊

I tried this career not too long ago and while I spotted someone fighting on my first patrol, I haven't seen anyone fighting or littering since. Also, talking to the chief never did anything either!!

i think the patrol does work it just takes literally forever for anything to happen which is still a problem :/

I find it easier to click on the sim, click toddler/infant care, and the just command them to feed/change/bath the baby. Cause if you click the objects they ignore you and if you have the baby "ask for help" they only do it correctly half the time. But I get a 90% success rate with clicking infant/toddler care on the adult sims.

Detective career is my favorite after Scientist. I've never found it buggy. Paranormal Investigator is buggy, no ghosts ever appear so it makes it hard to complete a shift.

i play the scientist career a lot because it’s fun, i go to the hospital building a lot because i use it a lot, but the detective one is a bit of an odd one out because it’s not that fun, it gets repetitive so quickly, and you don’t use it in gameplay at all

For all the reasons you just mentioned, I have always made my Peach gen go to uni (and turned aging off or on long lifespan) so that I start higher up in the career. There is no need for the patrol thing after a while. And if you spend most of the crime scene investigating picking up clues and photos and evidence, you only need to spend your workdays grinding out clues on the board and in the lab, and then you get to issue apb’s in no time. But that kinda beats the purpose of the career, maybe. A little grindy, but I find it to be the most effective way to get to level 10 here.

To anyone interested in playing this active career, other sims will usually defer to your sim if you try to use an in-use computer. I think if you just click on the computer and try to do something, they'll usually cancel their interaction and get up

i’ve been playing the nsb challenge recently and for me the only broken thing about the detective career was going on patrol and ironically I found the doctor career more broken

I wish the criminals were the townies in criminal career, ya know. Even if they are newly spawned, but if they are in criminal career, the detectives would be after them.

you can disable wants & fears in gameplay options, but if you dont do it at the very beginning they'll still get the moodlets if they already developed some and come back even if you cheat them away 100 times lol. so annoying. i had a paranormal investigator who was afraid of the dark and no matter what i did i just had the scared moodlet 24/7

i'd love to see a base game only lets play/mini series. it'd be cool to watch simsie make the most of Just the base game

After Painting and Writing the detective career is my favourite, but the hundreds of different bug, the suddenly corruption of the save files, the game crashes or freezes on loading screen with the only get out of force close the game make me impossible to play it. And they still release more and more DLC with more bugs than gameplay.

I'd love to see you build a house with only career unlocks. You can, of course, cheat to unlock them. Exceptions; walls, wallpaper, floors. Any other sims needs that aren't available as career rewards should be career focused-e.g. prison toilet

It might have already been said, but you can look at your notes and it will have all the clues from your current investigation so you don't have to remember each clue off the top of your head
