This battle still upsets me. You gave link all his endgame gear, but you gave cloud his starting weapon? Didn't give him the ultima materia either. And while you did give him a ribbon, you ignored it in the fight as the boomerang STUNNED him despite boomstick specifically saying it protects him from stuns. Good job deathbattle.

Camera work here is my favorite in all the death battles. Animation isn’t half bad either. Models are a bit stiff, but it really feels like the characters are operating under the rules of their games.

I'd love to see a reanimation of this and some other older death battles. Not changing the results, just reanimation the fight with their newer better animation styles.

You are all complaining about Cloud's Summons, but ScrewAttack didn't even include Link's masks which are in my opinion one of his most powerful weapons/tools. He can transform into a Goron which is suppose to be the big bruisers of the Zelda franchise. He can even transform into a giant that makes normal Link look like an insect. For Christ's sake he can even transform into the Fierce Deity God, let me repeat that, A GOD. If normal Link beat Cloud, imagine what Fierce Deity Link would do to him.

Cloud never dealt with Navi, that was his demise. Link has been annoyed farther than any mortal can imagine.

Please choose one iteration of Link. You're giving Link the benefit of having the skills of all past and future Links. If you were to choose the best combat Link, it would probably be TP or MM Link, as TP Link has proper training, and MM Link has experience. Still, neither have the pegasus boots, and only MM Link has ice arrows, while TP Link has the clawshot. And then MM Link would need Navi or Tatl to Z-Target, which violates the "no outside help" rule. MM Link does not have as good combat as TP Link, as TP Link was trained by MM Link, making TP Link the obvious better choice for the Death Battle. As for Cloud, if we're going with Post-AC Cloud, he would probably be using the First Tsurugi/Fusion Blade, since he retired the Buster Sword at Aerith's church as respect to both Aerith and Zack. Since he is using the fusion sword, his Omnislash would be very different, as he can split the sword mid-Omnislash. Since Death Battle has redid Superman VS. Goku, how about redoing this one?

I feel like Link's true power has never really been properly represented in the games. I hope one day we get a Zelda game where he feels just as badass as one would think the goddess' chosen hero would be. Especially considering that he has to defeat some variation of Ganon in almost every game, who is basically a reincarnated god of pure evil and malice. That boss battle should really look like fantasy dbz with magic and swords if we were being true to the lore.

came to this video to find a reason as to why Link should have won the rematch. Instead i found Nostalgia, humility, and compassion. I was really watching Death battle 8 years ago as if it was super high quality videos that gave encyclopedic knowledge on my favorite IPs. Compared to how it is now, they were giving spark notes on IPs in there basement. Ohh man, how much this series has grown! P.S. i am aware it was high quality for its time. no hate on old DB, it just have grown alot.

i still find this fight to be better than the remake tbh- for its time this animation was AMAZING whereas link vs cloud 2 is kinda just.. meh, compared to other 3d fights around the time, like machamp vs goro or ganondorf vs dracula. the research and information and debating in this one felt exciting and passionate whereas the second one was just kinda "okay there we changed the verdict and made cloud win will you all please stop being mad about yang vs tifa now please" the first one was made from passion, the second one was made to fill an episode slot

I've yet to see ScrewAttack get any of these Death battles right. I'm a huge Zelda fan, but I know Cloud would destroy Link.

Cloud is strong and all, but Link is a more inspirational hero. In Link's adventures, people have always looked up to Link. Colin wanted to be just like Link when he grew up. Colin was a scared child, Link inspired him to be a hero because Link represents courage, what it means to be a hero. Darunia, the king of the Gorons named his son after Link. Joel from the Wind Waker is a child who wants to grow up to be big and strong like Link. Zill always follows Link around. Talo looks up to Link. Link is popular in real life and in his own universe. Link has saved kingdoms to entire dimensions.

I'm rewatching it because I'm bored, but this one just weirds me out, man. I've not even started it yet, but I'll never forgot the motionlessness.

So I thought I'd humor myself and look to see this classic death battle to see if people are still butt hurt over Link beating Cloud, and of course, people still are. Kind of find it funny that people people still can't get over the fact of how people can't seem to get one thing to click in their head: In this battle, the question was simple: Can Cloud break Link's Defense? The answer was no. Cloud's fighting style (as seen in Dissidia) can be describe as "Overwhelming Force." The reason why he is swinging around his buster sword is simply because not many people can be able to withstand the force of a giant buster sword coming down on them. Of course, Man at Arms did make a buster sword of their own, and the damn thing had a weight of about 80 pounds. Of course, it could be more so let's say 100 pounds of force alongside what additional force Cloud puts into his swings. This means that if someone was to try block on of his attacks, they would have to withstand a good amount. As stated previous though, Link's Gauntlets do provide him with the ability to not only withstand the attacks, but not to falter afterwards, to which is where Cloud exceeds at. Even if you were going to argue "BUT HE WAS GIVEN THE BUSTER SWORD! THAT'S NOT FAIR!" chances are that with the Fusion Sword he had in Advent Children, that probably wouldn't have changed either, although the option of Cloud's Omnislash ver. 5 would have opened up there, and there would be a chance where Cloud's sudden movements there probably much more difficult for Link to Block. Hard to say, but I'd guess that if we get a"remastered" Link vs Cloud, giving Cloud his Fusion sword would make for a more interesting death battle due to how his sword would open up more options, although in the end, it would still be like the buster sword in terms of size and weight which could lead to the same outcome in that sense. Overall, this was a situation of Defense being stronger than Offense. Fair enough assumption?

Link would win because Cloud is an RPG character. Cloud has to wait for his turn to strike, link doesn't.
