RIP Chester...Linkin Park has been my favorite band since 6th grade when Hybrid Theory was the first album I'd ever purchased. In my final semester of college I decided to take an independent study course and produced this video as a tribute. The video discusses the band's growth from their early years of "Hybrid Theory" through their most recent album "Living Things." My inspiration came from the deep respect and appreciation I have for the band and their music. Their fearlessness to experiment and grow as musicians regardless of the consequences is a testament to their brilliance.

Same. I actually guess it feels like losing a good friend because he sang with so much love and expressed real feelings. We can relate to these feelings. I personally feel comforted when I hear linkin park and I get new motivation. That is what you need from a friend, too. I'm so sad that there will be no new songs.

In 1999 you had bands like Limp Bizkit Disturbed Papa Roach System of the Down Mudvayne trapped those are all bands at work kind of similar to what Linkin Park was doing at the time they were all put into that new metal genre which way is basically rap rock... you even had crazy town that was around back then some of those bands you might not never heard of

There's a reason why Linkin Park reached out to the masses. Their music connected with our souls. It's because - they pursue great music and only great music. They explore and experiment. This is what makes them truly unique. As an artist, one has to constantly challenge themselves in order to discover new heights. They did what they had to and I respect them. Love Linkin Park... Forever!!
@Jorcap
@Jorcap 6 років тому
EXACTLY THIS! So much people don't understand this. They like, yeah lets keep riding horses instead of lets experiment and drive cars instead. (back in the 1900's people didn't think of changing, but when they finally accept the change they can't do without it. Same for this music. Especially now.
@evanurena8868
@evanurena8868 5 років тому
Thousands upon thousands of artists have explored and experimented to evolve as well and did it just as good if not better then Linkin Park. People act as if this is exclusive to Linkin Park, which it isn't. The underground scene is full of examples of unique experimentation that's foreign to common ear of the masses.

I know right, these guys defined my first years of elementary school. I was like 7 when One Step Closer came blasting through from my dad's car radio. I was fucking shocked and our next stop was at the record store and bought me this beast of an album Hybrid Theory. I first heard about the dead of Chester from my mom, she said ''This guy died, wasn't he the singer from that band you listened all the time as a kid?'' I just got chills from just thinking about it, it was a tremendous loss and a shock to be honest. R.I.P Chester, love you man.

I was 14 yrs old when Hybrid Theory released. Living in a small city in India, we didn't have much access to western contemporary music outside out Channel V, MTV and the local music stores. I was at home one evening after school, when my class buddy called on my land line (school kids didn't have cell phones back then) and asked me to immediately tune in to Channel V , on which In the End was playing and he was like duuude this was the song I was telling you about. I'm 32 today and there are still days where I listen to an entire Linkin Park album at a stretch. I didn't follow them much after Meteora, but Hybrid Theory, Reanimation and Meteora are three of the most influential albums in my life. It represents and means a whole lot to me. I'll never stop listening to them.

@evanurena8868 7 років тому
AC_Overdose: It's valid constructive criticism. Reanimation is an example of an underrated album of experimentation that was more groundbreaking they any of there other albums put together. Reanimation is actually a very important album considering that the album had an even more diverse melange of old and new sounds that did not outshine each other. The electronic sounds were not overpowering like ATS, the alternative rock was not overpowering like MTM and the hip-hop was not simplified like all of their newer material is. Hip-hop, electronic music, and rock all played a heavy role and It was a pure example of a redefined progressive album headed in the right direction. So explain to us what makes ATS such an amazing yet underrated album that has never been done before by other bands other than trying to be political about nuclear warfare and human atrocities, but doing a lackluster job at highlighting these themes. Go ahead, i'll listen.
@ACOverdose
@ACOverdose 7 років тому
Evan Urena Look dude, if you think ATS is bad, that's fine. If you think MTM is bad, that's also fine. If you love Reanimation, that's great, I like it, too. I'm not gonna argue about how a good a band is. It's all opinion. Listen to what you like, and I'll listen to what I like.

I've loved all of their albums.I may have least favorites, but that didn't mean I disliked those songs. It's been a great experience growing up and seeing these guys mature, too. I miss their meteora and hybrid theory days, they had been anthems of my childhood, but it's like I just had to grow up from that angsty and angry phase that it's easy for me to like the newer albums. I love these guys so much and I respect what they do and how they do these things. They're always growing, evolving,and still staying relevant especially now. And i think it's beautiful. More power and I hope for many successful years to come, Linkin Park!

The first band i ever knew the name of, literally the first band that i found on my own (not through my parents). Found that the yelling and screaming was odd being that i never listened to music at the age of 7 but it grew on me and i ended up growing up with linkin park and when i found them again as an adult all of the pain he spoke of finally made sense cuz i was old enough to understand it, and it was all too familiar and almost like a puzzle piece that fitted perfectly in my life

Great job man, Linkin Park is by far my favorite band, and one of the main reason is the one you talk about in your video: their versatility. From the really heavy "Given Up", "No More Sorrow" and the most recent "War" (from "The Hunting Party"), to the fully rapped "H! Vltg", "Dedicated" etc. From the acoustic version of "Pushing Me Away" and "Breaking The Habit", "The Messenger", "In Between", to electronic songs, such as "Skin To Bone" and the "disco friendly" "A Light That Never Comes", no other band has ever had (and I believe nobody ever will) so many different genres played so well. Pure metal and classic rock fans will hate LP, but LP can actually appeal to everybody... You are a Hip Hop fan? You'll love LP... You like really heavy stuff? You'll love LP... You like to relax and listen to a melodic voice while soft keybord or acoustic guitar is played? You'll love LP. That's it. Linkin Park is the best band of all time. Period.

Still so crazy to think that there was so much more going on inside of Chester's mind than what he allowed anyone to see... He was hurting & was in pain emotionally and instead of letting anybody know about what he was feeling or going thru, he put all of that pain into his music and in return, he created some of the most memorable and iconic songs lyrics ever. And now that he is gone, it's so intense listening to all of his music now and just knowing that all of his lyrics had such a deeper meaning than what we all were hearing at first... Like, it's so hard listening to Numb, Heavy, Somewhere I Belong & so many more songs now bcus the pain he was feeling and shit was all right there in front of us! He was screaming out for help, and nobody realized.. Like the lyrics in Heavy, "I keep dragging around what's bringing me down & if I just let go I'd be set free" are so fucking deep & he eventually did just let go & he is now finally set free from dragging around whatever was bringing him down. It's just still so fucked up & still makes me damn near cry like a baby. His music has helped millions of people get thru some very dark places and times in their lives, and he only seemed to just want to help as many people as he could by doing what he did, yet he was struggling with demons of his own for so long and always pushed his own shit aside to help everyone else. Well, Chester most definitely helped me come up out of some very dark and scary times in my life. Chester and just Linkin Park in general have saved my fucking life more than once & I wish I could have been able to personally meet & thank Chester from the bottom of my heart for all the help his music and his words of kindness have so srsly helped me get thru and handle some fucked up shit n my life. Chester's music & his legacy will forever live on & he will always be my idol and I will always have so much love and respect for him for being just such an amazing down to earth & kind hearted person in this world. His goofy personality was always something that could cheer me up & make me smile at any time. At least we will forever have his music and will always be able to hear his voice & see his face in videos and in interviews n shit like that. Rest in Paradise, Chester Bennington. You will forever be loved & truly missed so fucking much by so many millions of people all over this world. I am so thankful to be able to have had Linkin Park be such a huge and important part of my life and my childhood. Linkin Park helped me to become the person that I am today, & kids these days will just never know or get to experience that Linkin Park era like us 90's kids did. Kids these days will never know how much of a inspiration LP was for so many people & they'll never get to experience true, genuine music like LP's music & lyrics were. What a fucking shame. I can't imagine not knowing who Linkin fucking Park is. Lol

It's been 2 whole years since Chester died & yet it still feels so new & the pain is still so fresh... I legit fucking sobbed like a baby when I first heard that he had taken his own life, like cried hard as hell. Linkin Park was such a huge & major part of my childhood. I have so many memories of me just sitting in my bedroom and I had this super old DVD of like 'The Making of' a bunch of their music videos and just like a documentary about the making of the album & I just remember watching that damn DVD over and over again, it was always in my DVD player & right there on my TV screen whenever I'd turn the TV on... That was legit like my absolute favorite thing to sit and watch all day everyday. My dad got it for me when I was like 11 or 12 years old, bcus he knew I had such a huge obsession with Linkin Park & I remember he had bought me a LP tshirt from Hot Topic & gave it to me one day when I got home from school lol. I was in love with that damn shirt & wore it almost every other fucking day lol. I've always had such a huge amount of love and have always just been so freaking interested and fascination with this band for literally as long as I can remember. Linkin Parks music and the lyrics in the songs have helped me get out of some srsly dark times in my life. When I was younger & before I was even in middle school, I was bullied & had been constantly getting picked on, mocked & laughed at by the other assholes in my school and I remember just feeling like I wanted to escape & just fucking run away from everybody and everthing. I didnt even care if I lived or died anymore at that point in my life. And I was so damn young, like too young to be coming home from school everyday, locking myself in my bedroom & cutting myself just to try and focus my mental and emotional pain on the physical pain instead. Bcus I just couldnt take it anymore & I just couldn't ever understand why everyone hated me & had such hurtful and mean things to say about me. I didn't understand why I was being bullied & picked on at school I just knew that I didn't want to feel that way anymore. And sitting in my room all alone after school everyday, listening to all of Linkin Parks music, like actually listening to & for real hearing the deeper meaning in their lyrics definitely helped me open up & break thru that wall I had build up all around myself to keep people out & to try and just not give a fuck about anything and not feel any emotions... their music definitely helped me break & tear down that wall I had made myself, it helped me figure out who I really was deep down inside, it helped me to be able to tell myself that I was who I was & if some people didnt like the person I was, then fuck them. Linkin Park and their music srsly saved my life. If I could literally owe my life to anything or to anyone, I'd owe it to LP & Chester Bennington. Bcus Chester had been thru all of the same depression shit & been thru some really tough and hard times in his life, & he channeled all of that pain into his music & in return he made some of the most memorable and iconic song lyrics in the world. I still can't believe Chester is really gone, he was such a major inspiration in my life & I just wish I could have met him or at least seen them in concert before he died. That was always one of my goals in life was to meet Chester & thank him for his music & explain to him how much his music & lyrics have helped pull me out of a very dark place in my life. He will forever be missed. 💙💙

I was born in 2005, so I was a little late to the Linkin Park train. I love all their songs and I have an immense amount of respect for them. You'd think that surely everyone knows of Linkin Park, but I'm sad to say that when I talk to my class mates about them, they ask "Who?". It's depressing to known that we are entering an age where people don't know who Linkin Park is, when just over a decade ago people my age were their biggest fans. I plan to change that in my school. Everyone needs their lifetime dose of Linkin Park.

The band's evolution is super inspiring. The fact that they steered away out of what they were known for in hybrid theory and meteora, shows the risk the band was willing to take to explore different avenues; to grow as artists, and to create music not necessarily what the fans wanted to hear, but what they felt was right for Linkin Park. Chester Bennington may you rest in peace! Excellent documentary! Brought much nostalgia and feelings of reconnecting with my past in middle school. Loved it :)

Linkin Park’s ascension from their beginning to their ending albums will show all their perseverance and overcoming of life. When I envision the transformation of their melodies I see a soul’s beginning, death, and rebirth throughout this phase of life. I am so beyond PROUD of how this band came together to NOT just "make music" as just about everybody thinks they can do now-a-days. BUT they came in to PROVE their creative abilities with all of their music. My younger sister, Shannon was in 5th grade & I was in 7th grade, She had the HUGEST CRUSH on Mike Shinoda, it was ridiculous. She BEGGED our father for tickets to Project Revolution for her birthday (12th or 13th birthday for her) & Our father became a fan & said "YEAH WHY NOT!" So he bought her 2 tickets to Project Revolution & When they went...She was freaking out because she & my father had to sit through 4 if not 6 or 7 other Metal bands before Linkin Park came on. My father LOVED it BUT SHE was whimpering a bit. They broke for lunch at the cafe' area of which ever venue they were at. Moments later, they said that a Roadie from Linkin Park comes up to them and say's "Hey I'm with the band Linkin Park & I've got no where to sit, you mind if I have lunch with you guys?" My sister goes "OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!! YOU'RE WITH LINKIN PARK!" Then my father spoke with him about how it was his daughters B-day & She LOVES that band. The Roadie gave them backstage passes & was able to introduce her to Mike, Chester & the rest of the band! WOAH is me that I never got to see them Live or meet them. BUT THEIR MUSIC IS TIMELESS!!! LP FOR LIFE! Rest in Peace The "tortured Soul" of Chester Bennington
