As an old indie guitar and rock fan, I'll just say there's only two sorts of music really. Bad music and good music. This is the good stuff. Mind you I'll never get my head around how someone who has put out so much magnificent music for so long has been given the "breakthrough new artist" award. She's established, and she's class. The pat that Adele gave her on the way past suggests what we all know: while the Brits tend to reward unit-shifting (it's an industry awards night when all is said and done), Adele recognised the woman who has made the most thrilling and vital album of the year.
