Ethnicity can be nationality, heritage, culture, ancestry or upbringing and is just common ties between a group of people from either one or a mixture of any of those criteria. Republicans can be considered an ethnicity, but more accurately American would be the ethnicity of which republicans embrace. That would of course mean one way to determine if a baby was American would be to see where he was born… he may be born American and later come to resent and reject his ethnicity, like democrats, or he could be foreign born then come to identify as part of the American ethnicity. The common term for American ethnicity would be “ancestrally American”, people who view their ethnicity as American. If you want the common ties, it would be things democrats typically hate, like equality and meritocracy not equity, rule of law, a constitutional republic not mob rule, freedom over censorship and state controlled markets ect.
