VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Welcome to the Geasey family's bus home tour! This unique living space has been customized to maximize kitchen size over other areas, reflecting the family's priority for a spacious cooking environment. The Geaseys, a family of four, embraced a minimalistic lifestyle, downsizing drastically to focus on experiences over possessions, encapsulating their philosophy: "Smaller the house, bigger the world."
Inside their 1996 Bluebird bus, they've ingeniously utilized every inch of space. The kitchen, or the heart of their home, features a stove sourced from a wrecked RV and countertops salvaged from a dumpster, all treated with a Japanese wood preservation technique called Shou Sugi Ban to ensure durability and moisture resistance. The space includes a unique fold-up counter that serves multiple purposes, from dining to arts and crafts, enhancing the bus's functionality.
Storage solutions are creatively addressed throughout the bus. The Geaseys installed cabinets and lazy susans to make the most of the available space, alongside a nearly full-size refrigerator essential for their long wilderness trips. Living areas double as sleeping spaces, with custom-built furniture that transforms into beds, ensuring the bus remains comfortable and versatile.
The family's journey in the bus has been largely smooth, with the vehicle's Cummins engine providing reliability. Financially, the transformation into a mobile home was achieved economically, with the total cost rounding up to approximately $15,000, keeping the family debt-free.
Educational and recreational needs are also met creatively in the bus. A designated area for the children includes a growth chart and storage for toys and books, making it a functional space for learning and play. The master bedroom is thoughtfully designed with skylights for natural light and stargazing, enhancing the intimate connection with nature that mobile living affords.
The Geaseys' commitment to a sustainable and adventurous lifestyle extends beyond their home. They engage in various activities and businesses, including teaching and crafting leather goods, which they manage both on the road and through a seasonal physical location in Maryland.
For those interested in following the Geasey family’s adventures or supporting their endeavors, they maintain a presence on Instagram and Facebook under "Geasey Adventure" and run a website showcasing their products at LGgoods.co.
Thank you for visiting the Geasey family's mobile home and exploring their unique approach to living large by living small.

Being a "Minimalist" has immense benefits, number one is you are satisfied with minimum materialism, less space, less insurance, less maintenance, easily satisfied and content with your lot in life.

This is the way to do it. The money they spent is so reasonable. Their research, knowledge, hard work,and willingness to compromise was the true currency invested. This is the best floor plan I have seen so far. Their use of "center space" is very clever and keeps it from looking all lined up against the walls. Enjoy the journey and thanks for this awesome tour! P.S. How many cats do you have? 💕💕

Great family and Tiny Home! I took my sons all over the USA and Europe as they grew up and both have been extremely successful as adults! Now in their 50s neither chose life on the road but both have traveled the world on their own through career demands and taken their children along whenever possible! Cool video!

Perhaps they pop the emergency exit hatch to allow for additional ventilation when cooking. :) Between that and the windows I bet the cooking fumes dissipate quickly.

Will the children fit inside of those cabinets that are “bedrooms” until 18? Is there privacy for growing adolescents? I always worry for the rising tweens/teens that have to experience this living situation as it progresses. Love doesn’t make everything appropriate.

Based on the families I've followed, most families either go for a home around 2 years or upgrade to a new build. No one actually stays in one bus forever. My father grew up in a bus until he was a teenager. I believe they went through about 3 different busses.

@suzannecranford6819
@suzannecranford6819 12 днів тому
I have a different opinion about the kids' sharing their area. Children have grown up for decades sharing with each other and without much privacy. Everyone having separate spaces is a relatively "new necessity" and I think highly overrated. There are plenty of ways to get away (for a bit) to have some private time, but the rest of the time is spent learning about being a part of a team and how to exist with others.

The whole kids in shelves thing seems good for a road trip but not for living. They should have the bedroom and the parents should have a pull out.
@georgeLUVharrison
@georgeLUVharrison 10 днів тому
@@lhartwig2354 alright. Less that 60 yrs ago big families had basically a studio house. My mom grew up in the same room as her family. They all are super close and I wish I had the relationship she has with her siblings, with mine. Honestly, it's a better home than I can afford. If I was even able to love by myself with my child I wouldn't even be able to afford a studio. People grow up in a one bedroom apt still to this day. Yes, there are ways to have privacy go outside, go for a walk. Yall are so privileged. This is a beautiful family and those kids are gonna be happy to experience it.
