My mum just passed away two weeks ago. She was on palliative care for few months. Actually, it is not expensive at all. Palliative care is free for nurse and doctor to come to the house. If you need a caregiver for 8am-8pm, it’s only $50+ a week, with government subsidy. My mum stayed with me in her final 2 weeks. I used to feel I don’t want to be a burden and gg to a home makes sense for me. That 2 weeks changed my opinion. It’s not about video call or visiting. It’s honestly about the random moments at night and that touch. If you had a chance to say goodbye for 2 weeks, do it at home. You don’t get that again.

Having funeral pre-planning done allows the family to avoid conflicts regarding the rituals and costs. During the wake, the Funeral Director's role is to coordinate and manage it so that family members can focus on grieving. When one has the space to grieve, they are able to move on and live their lives in a much more positive manner.

When I heard my dad suddenly die, I was in shock and couldn’t believe it, i still eat and shop a bit. Once I got on the plane to fly back, I cry my heart out

Living funeral/celebration of life serves a totally different purpose than actual funeral. Living funeral is primarily for the dying person. The last get together, the last chance for everyone to help close the chapter. Amd the person can now prepare to pass on, feeling warmth, fulfillment, comforted and love. Definitely good to have. Funeral on the otherhand is meant for the loved ones to process grief. Everyone prpcess grief differently, but a funeral helps the majority of people with their grieves. Because not many people know how to deal with grief if left on their own. Funeral helps closure.

I felt the same as John. I didn't understand why people need time to process. Things happen and I just process it on the spot and accepts it. Not sure if is a good thing but oh well.

Try to catch up with closed friends as much as possible and don't use no time or busy as an excuse. When my close friend died of cancer, I wasn't feeling that sad at her funeral wake. I remember all the past occasions that we spent together and remember her fondly. and I still dream of her occasionally until today.
