Long Horse is a creation by Trevor Henderson ( / slimyswampghost , who graciously gave me permission to replicate it in animatronic format! I wanted to try my hand at building it ever since I stumbled into it. It's such an eerie, beautiful beastie, and I could not be happier how the animatronic version turned out!

That said, I am not the first to grant Long Horse motion: that honor belongs to tumblr user cinemamind ( cinemamind.tumblr.com/post/17... ), who really proved the potential Long Horse in motion has, and from which I took inspiration for the setup of this video. He boasts a grissly cast of beasties of his own design as well, go check him out!
The Long Horse animatronic functions on 5 axis of motion granted by 4 pneumatic cylinders and 1 servo (base of the skull). The skull I did not fabricate from scratch; I took a plastic prop skull (the creature it was based off of, I can't remember what) and enhanced it with Instamorph plastic surgery (so to speak) to get the final shape. The hair is from a wig, and I will be finding bits of it scattered throughout my house for months, no doubt.
The crunching sounds are from bending sticks of celery!
