I love that you loved your Time Machine/AirPort Extreme so much such great network hardware they are or (were) especially when used with express’ and airport utility I’m nowhere near an IT pro But using Apple hardware and airport utility gave me a fair amount of knowledge about networking I’d still be using my extremes if hadn’t just got 1GB internet service I know could still use them to create new networks or extend my current network but everything has been working well with the new faster service I just don’t feel like fixing something that isn’t broke. But yeah the Alien is Cool as heck.

I bought one as well. ……. CRAZY router . My old AP Extreme was good, but this one is SO fast 👍😄👍😄👍
@jamaisvu33303 роки тому
I noticed near the end you mentioned that you hadn't "seen speeds like this for over a year" did the router improve your speeds overall? if so, by how large of a scale was the improvement?

Are you maxing out your speeds wirelessly for the type of internet plan you have? And are you using band steering and which bands do you have enabled on the app?
@Nate_Bruce3 роки тому
Yes maxing out my ISP speeds for sure. And yes I am using 2.4 and 5Ghz bands

Totally agree with the opinion on the "best router" for the Apple's TimeCapsule. I still own the Airport Extreme which is basically the same as TimeCapsule minus the hard drive inside, BUT I have connected the external hard drive and it still works for me as the Time Machine backup station. I love Ubiquity products and especially Amplifi Alien but the lack of USB port is holding me back.

Thinking of ordering one of these, how long did it take you to receive after you bought it? I've heard there are issues with stock. Thanks! Great video.
@Nate_Bruce3 роки тому
I had it in about 3-4 days if that
@terminalvelocity48583 роки тому
@@Nate_Bruce Thanks for the reply. So a couple more questions for you. After using the Amplifi Alien for around a month now (assuming from the video post date), how would you say your experience has been with it, any pros/cons etc? Also, where did you end up ordering from (Ubiquity Web Site, Amazon, etc)? It's just a lot of cash to drop on a router so I was curious of an ACTUAL users experience and opinion before buying, which I am planning on either today or tomorrow.
@Nate_Bruce3 роки тому
@@terminalvelocity4858 Yes I've had it over a month now. I better do a follow-up video. Experience has been absolutely fantastic, no cons all positive. I have setup queues for all of the kids devices. With the push of button on the app, I can shut them all down, and tell them to go outside and be kids. We love it. Ordered direct from Ubiquity. Yes it is a lot of cash, your'e right. I hesitated. But I was so tired of putting up with my old TimeCapsule, I just but the bullet. And thankfully its paid off.

@@Nate_Bruce For some reason, UKposts just now notified me of this comment. I wanted to say thank you for your feedback, it is invaluable and I will be ordering one of these very soon. All the best, thanks again!

Where can I get that “clock” THATS on your MacBook?
@Goomsies3 роки тому
So you didn't have to restart your modem at all to set this up? I ask because I really want to get one, but I'm living in South Korea for a year (for work). In Korea, many apartment buildings provide fast internet to you through a port in your wall, which is presumably connected to a modem somewhere that I don't have access to. A ton of router apps out there require you to restart your modem, but I noticed you skipped it. Had you set it up before, or were you just able to bypass that step?
@Nate_Bruce3 роки тому
Thats right.. I did not have to restart my Modem at all.

I had the Alien Mesh system. Mesh failed after six months. Customer service is terrible. Took five weeks to get it resolved.
@Nate_Bruce3 роки тому
Thats very unfortunate. I realize no company is perfect. But my experience with Ubiquity over the years has been awesome.
@dazecm3 роки тому
Great coverage of this product. Thanks. It looks like great tech. What's not so great is the supply failure by Ubiquiti for this product, at least outside the US. This thing is not available from any of Ubiquiti's distribution partners anywhere in the UK or Europe. So much for the benefits of the global economy. The only thing the global economy is good for right now is enabling the spread of COVID19 :(
@Nate_Bruce3 роки тому
Cheers Darren. Yes I agree, even here in the US the Inventory supply for these units was extremely low. You still cannot purchase from Amazing or other suppliers. Very unfortunate.
