I lost my dog recently, and this song is something I didn't know I need to hear. Her albums always serve a special purpose in my life every time they come out. This one's doing it in very subtle ways

"Big Star" hit me like a sixteen-wheeler. Earlier this year, our puppy Tofu went missing. We checked everywhere in our area, put up posters, and even offered reward money for his return. We never got him back. But he will always be my big star. I didn't cry when Tofu went missing. I shoved my grief down because I had to go on with life. I cried for the first time today for him while listening to this song. I share Ella's grief. Losing a pet is its own kind of pain, and I'm thankful that she wrote this song. Please hug your pets while they are still with you. ❤

I remember when she sent the email announcing Pearl’s passing away, I was so heartbroken for her but also scared for myself since I couldn’t even fathom losing my dog in this reality, I remember when the thought of him dying even crossed my mind I held him tightly and pet him while crying, then he’d lick the teardrops I shed. Now that this song is out he hasn’t been here for a few months and I thought the hole he left in my heart got filled again, but this song felt like if Lorde pushed with all of her brute force a finger into that void and it stung like hell. I am thankful though, thanks to this song I feel like I can start healing and maybe one day the open wound will cicatrize, while the scar will always be there it won’t hurt.

As if Covid wasn't enough, cancer took my dog away late last year, we had to put him down right before New Year's. My best friend in the whole world for 11 years..it's been tough. I didn't even know this song was a tribute to her dog, that makes me love it even more. Explains why I'll be crying while listening to it though

I just wanna say that I'm struggling with my depression and this new album is healing me in someway, that's so powerful...Lorde's art is always a cure for my soul and she's just came in the right time to me the sun in my life... I'm just so grateful, it was everything I needed... I have strong panic attacks and anxiety too but this album makes me feel stronger and it gives me peace and relax, it feels like a long meditation session 🌱 So grateful💛

She stays writing about beautiful and unique things. I never understand why people think of her as a "sad" songwriter, it's so reductive. She is just sharing her little notes of life, her perception. She will sing about the teenage doom of growing older, and the intimate moments with her beautiful dog - Is so refreshing in an industry all about love, sex, money. Her music has images and substance, that's why it takes four years to write, and she keeps on doing the BEST job.

My dog tragically passed a month and a half ago. I miss him a lot and see him in all his favorite spots most days. I know eventually it'll get easier but damn these past couple of weeks have been hard. Big Star hit me really hard last night. My dogs name was Cosmo so the whole "big star" nickname got me fucked up on multiple levels. I was in need of a good cry tho so thank you, Lorde.

I just listened to this album, finally after like 2 years and the songs that really hit me were California and Big Star. They are such beautiful songs. ♥️ I also didnt know this was about her dog until I checked the comments, it brought me back to when my little chloe passed away in 2022. This song makes me think of my lil angel now. I miss her so so much. Tears are coming. 💙

This song hits too close to home. We recently lost our dog, Jacob. He’d been with us for more than 10 years. He was our baby, and my best friend...still is! 💗 I miss him so much it hurts. It feels impossible to be genuinely happy again. But there’s a kind of peace I get thinking we’ll reunite again someday...he may not be with us physically anymore but our memories with him will live forever with us. Until we meet again, buddy! 🥺💗

I don't know how this song got me burst into tears, I don't even own a dog and when I listen it for the first time I felt sad. Honestly I am typing while composing myself and I've never felt something like this in other songs, I've never cried before and now look at me bursting into tears while listening to this song. My great grand mother used to call me a star every time I used to meet her. She was my safe space. I moved to Milan last year and she passed away a few moths later. My dog died yesterday and I listened to this song. He has been to us for 13 years. I really missed our dog so much. My big star. R.i.p to all pets in comments. You guys have a good heart. Stay strong! My beautiful cockatiel want to explore and run. Later he tried to back but some people took him while he rests his wings so he can return home. (he couldn't fly a long time). People in the street saw and told us but we can't find him. I hope he is alive and well cause he was afraid of the outside and if he was alone he couldn't survive. it break my heart to think about it.

My Kookie just passed away tonight. I am crying while listening to this. I don't regret the almost 11 years that I spent with her, all of the best memories I had with her just suddenly played in my mind and I couldn't stop myself from crying. She helped me a lot especially during the days of my isolation. My mental health is so fucked up and her clingy personality calms my mind. She's such an angel, my buddy is gone now. I hope to see her in my dreams so that, somehow, I am assured that she's in a happy place. I will forever miss her. I'll miss our chitchats about my day and my rants abt life that I am not able to share with another human being.Thank you for this, Lorde. 💛 This song will always remind me of my precious doggo bestfriend. 💛

As English is not my main language I listened to this song and didn’t payed much attention to the lyrics until my 3rd or 4th listen and now it hit me really hard, my dog Kodak passed away a year and half ago and it still hurts to this day, he was a member of our family.
