Compared to everyone else, Amaterasu is actually one of the canonically strongest Capcom characters in the game (Thor himself even tells her that Nippon is lucky to have someone as strong as her as its protector). Okami, for as amazing of a game as it is, sold poorly on release due to timing; it released at the same time as a more hotly-anticipated game starring a wolf and small, plucky protagonist, that game being The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
